Must also give credit to 'batboy', who provided the following info:
The (delineated) gaps are interesting, info about rare or obsolete bars may be missing.

ANY info anyone else can provide would be extremely helpful to others that may not be obvious -
even if you just let others know what model vehicle has what kind of bars.

Hopefully admin will allow this list to be modified indefinitely as more info becomes available?

Gave credit to 'batboy' in the previous post, but forgot to mention something he said that might be very important:

The torsion bars I'm installing have the XM code while most of the "regular" Tahoes use the lighter duty XL code t-bars.
Remember, Tahoe torsion bars are 52" long which are 2" shorter than the Silverados.
Is it true that pickup trucks use different-length torsion bars compared to Tahoes / Suburbans / Avalanches?
Whether or not that's true, can a Tahoe use 2" longer torsion bars?
Don't want to be limited to PPV / SSV / Avalanche torsion bars, hoping to be able to use WY/YH because I THINK GG (H2) bars will be too stiff.

You can buy them new but expect to pay 300 bucks a peice at least. Plus the torsion bars are different stiffness depending on package, vehicle platform. Check LMC truck or google it they are new but very expensive. Although I'm unsure of what stiffness is what.....

In which case I'll check junkyards first ...

Did ye notice the list up top? Still working on it; if ANYONE has ANY helpful info regarding what bars go with what models, post 'em up.

Right now I'm thinking of trying to find torsion bars from this group:
15048311 & 15048312 . . . . 6XM&7XM . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5638 . . . . . . . PPV / SSV / Avalanche

Though I think I'd prefer the WY / YH bars over the XM bars ...

Next question: If I acquire the 'YH' torsion bars from a Chevy Silverado 1500 (with an L33!),
will my Tahoe be able to use them? Or am I going to find out that they're too long / too short, or too thick / too thin to work with my Tahoe?

In other words:
Are torsion bars from a 4WD Tahoe/Yukon / Suburban/XL 1500 / Avalanche 1500
physically and functionally interchangeable with torsion bars from pickup trucks?

Hoping someone here has an answer to this question:
Are the various GMT800 front torsion bars different LENGTHS?

I'd be disappointed to learn that there are bars my Tahoe canNOT use now,
but it'd be far worse if I learn this after buying the WY / YH bars which apparently were never used by a Tahoe / Suburban / XL / ESV / Avalanche.

Are there NO torsion bar experts left here @ GMT800.com?
Do I need to pay a junkyard dog to measure random various torsion bar lengths?

After being in shops for 40+ years and working on a bunch of torsion bar front ends and watching other techs do the same, I can say that I have never ever replaced a torsion bar or had to look up lengths or even the correct applications for what I was working on. I wish I could help you but.........

If you're right that'd open up my options considerably.
My hope is to find, properly install, and make use of one of the following bars

15712407 & 15712408 . . . . 6WX&7WX . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5826 . . . . . . .

preferably the WY / YH bars which are somewhat stiffer than the PPV / SSV / Avalanche XM bars.

My FEAR is that only the following torsion bars

Part Numbers . . . . . . . . . . . RPO Codes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Rate index . . . . Models Info?
15048307 & 15048308 . . . . 6XK&7XK . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4553 . . . . . . . .

are compatible with / usable by Tahoes / bubbas / XLs / ESVs / Avalanches.

Read somewhere and watched a video that stated that the pickups used different length bars.

The field is wide open, you can be the king of torsion bar knowledge. Back in the day working on cars, mopars had torsion bars and they were all different lengths by body style (A Body, B Body, etc.), so I wouldn't be surprised if they were different between the SUV's and Trucks.

Well went to a couple yards and documented the below of what I found. Hopefully it helps someone out.
Measurements are approximate as it was kind of hard to measure under the truck in the yard with the bar mounted and concrete blocks in the way but they should be close.

YH – 54"
XM – 52"
XL – 51/52"
XK – 49/50"

Tahoe & Yukon Denali – 6XK/7XK

Suburban & Yukon XL – 6XL/7XL
X2 X1 Z71 Avalanche – 6XM/7XM

X2 Z71 – 6WY/7WY
1500 SLE – 6WY/7WY

Z71 1500 – 6YH/7YH
Non Z71 1500 – 6YH/7YH
1500 4x4 – 6YH/7YH

Half ton – YT
1500 ext cab 1SE - 6YT/7YT

2500HD – GK
3500 – GL
Combining your notes with mine above, it LOOKS like the suvs were 'meant' by GM OE to use 'XK', 'XL', or 'XM' torsion bars.
If that's truly the case, I've learned something sad - 'cause I'd hoped to consider the 'WX', 'GF', or 'YH' bars - but at least I've learned something.

Going to limit me too because I need 55" bars. Could probably get away with 54 but nothing shorter because I need the clearance for my drivetrain. If you're drivetrain won't hit anything you can probably just redrill the frame and move the mount forward. The frame might even already have the holes for it.
