    Rebuilding 4l60e

I'd do everything. My philosophy is to build the strongest/best unit I can afford to build because I KNOW I will be hard on it. I told the shop who built mine that I fully intended to put a cammed 6.0 in the truck. They essentially built a 4l70 with some aftermarket extras. Stout unit, I've beat...

What CV Axle Are You Buying?

Understandable. I think I would rather just change the axles instead of attempting to work on these ones right now. Could they be okay? Maybe. But my 800 is quickly approaching 300K miles, and I think I would rather just put in some quality new axles and be done with it. Surely someone has to...

    HVAC Controls

Good to know on the newer style compressors! I am a big fan of the stretch belt. Keep in mind they are one time use. I learned that the hard way

I think that is the lower shaft. It is great that GM still offers that! I just pulled up my order history and this was the part number. I'd assume one of those two part numbers was the last "iteration" before it was discontinued. Maybe there's some NOS stuff lying around somewhere.

What CV Axle Are You Buying?

I just stumbled across these. Wondering if anyone has experience with them? https://axiomsupply.com/products/axiom-supply-reaper-series-cv-axle-assembly-gm-truck-1500-6-lug-silverado-sierra-1999-2006 Mainly because my rig is approaching 300k miles. I'd prefer to install a high quality new...

    Loose steering

I am not seeing the GM genuine unit offered anymore, I guess mine has been in there a while... But, it looks like Borgeson makes a nice one for the GMT800 https://www.borgeson.com/99-08-Full-Size-Chevy-GMC-Truck.html

You have to pull the upper shaft to do the column bearing correct? I would, my upper shaft was worn and making noise. I replaced it with a nice GM Genuine one. If it is out, you might as well replace it. I hate trying to wedge myself down under the dash

Did you get a new steering shaft?

    GMT800 Airbag kit

Hi all! I am considering taking the airbags off my 04 Sierra and was wondering if any member here might be interested in the whole kit. With my truck being lowered, the airbags have made the suspension extremely stiff. They have also caused a "stinkbug" stance that I can's stand. I could source...

I was catching up on this thread and was going to warn you about that. Delco for the most part is just a name on a box. And, unfortunately, usually just a "white box" part with a label. If I want as close to OE as possible for these rigs, I try to source Delphi parts. Delphi actually made a lot...

What CV Axle Are You Buying?

I almost always do. But, I am pretty sure I have Cardone axles in the 93'. They were some of the only axles I could source with that sensor ring during the COVID part shortage debacle. I assumed they wouldn't last long, but they have held up surprisingly well.

What CV Axle Are You Buying?

Why did I have to look at this thread a few days back? My driver CV just started clicking :( Anyway, I think there are three I am looking at buying, but I am going to swab the axles side-to-side first. Moog 10H001 Precision GM8033C Cardone 66-1009 The first two have thermoplastic outboard...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

New look! I scored these on marketplace. I was told takeoffs from a 24 Sierra, and that checks out because the DOT numbers are same year. I'll take that for under $200. The 18s with 285s are on the Suburban (and look amazing). The black 17s that were originally on this are goin to my old man...

    Gear ratio

Though I have never personally tried it, someone told me years ago the Trailblazer I6 (vortec 4200) converter was a good upgrade for a mild cam pickup. Any thoughts?

    Gear ratio

Turbo. That's it. The 5.3 and 6.0 have the same stroke length. That is why the 5.3 works OK in a heavy vehicle and the 4.8 is pretty much worthless for doing real work (4.8 van with a trailer is downright pathetic). In my opinion, you over-cammed the 4.8 for your application. That 212/218 cam...
