2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

Those two would be good friends, dude with the ZZ Top shirt is his buddy the parts truck came from. The tow truck driver is me, not pictured. :) Richard

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

OK, so apparently the situation is he was taking it to a friend's shop to get lowered a bit. I'm guessing the gauges went out on the way to the shop. So it's not getting any attention there for that issue. Hoping at some point soon it'll be back at his place and I might be able to pay a visit...

My girl says, "A/C on and heard a rumble vibrate and stuff blowing out of vents"!

I mean they look like a hamster wheel, so can you blame the poor thing? :) Richard

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

Wellllll kinda dead in the water on this one. His truck is at someone's shop, also on the other side of the planet, and I don't know the status. I think it's just sitting there, not getting worked on. I don't imagine I'll be getting out there anytime soon to put hands on it. I really feel...

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

I do indeed have a scanner. As mentioned I'm nowhere near him to provide immediate help in person. :( Says he checked the fuses. Seems to be a discrepancy on which one he was looking at but he says the truck is at his buddy's place at the moment, not in front of him. I thought for a 2005 it...

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

He's retired so buying a cluster would be a bit of a financial hardship, as well as sending it out for repair. If it turns out to be steppers or just some bad solder joints inside, I can take care of it for him, it's just a logistical hassle. Hell I even have a box of new steppers here for a 7...

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

I'm helping him from a pretty good distance (he's about 70 miles from me, so during regular traffic times that could mean 2hrs one-way), so I'm not able to easily lay hands on the truck. He's a pretty sharp guy mechanically but generally with older stuff - muscle cars, street rod type builder...

2005 Sierra all gauges suddenly dead

Trying to help a buddy of mine with his truck - his gauges all quit. Warning lights and such still work, so the gauge cluster has power, but no activity on the gauges themselves. I feel like I've heard of this but can't seem to find anything definitive with some searching. I've replaced...

Ol' Drippy has left the driveway..

Thanks, and she does.. she used to drive my '94 C2500LD years ago before I sold it like a dummy. She always commented how comfortable the seats were, and that she felt like it was easy to see down the hood to judge where the front of the truck was. At that point it was probably the "biggest"...

Ol' Drippy has left the driveway..

I guess I didn't make a thread here about Ol' Drippy, our silver birch metallic '06 Silverado SS. It was my wife's daily driver for the past 9 years and 100K miles. Not a bad truck, I'm just way more comfortable with GMT400's so we replaced it with a clean low-mile '94 ECSB C1500. Y'all...

Features deleted by GM (gmt800 life cycle)

I question the years on this, based 100% on my experience -towing- these vehicles, particularly when many of them were still new. 1999-2000 pickups had locking columns. 2001-up pickups do not - unless equipped w/manual transmission None of the GMT800 SUV's I've towed had locking steering...

    Problem with steering wheel controls

I had a clockspring total failure in a nearly-new 2016 F450SD, only 26K miles on it. Airbag light, none of the steering wheel control buttons worked, and a nice ratchety-clicking noise when you turned the wheel. Sure sounds like yours is going bad. Richard

    Ash tray doesn't stay

Could be a little tricky and take some trial-and-error to come up with a suitable material to make it from, but maybe a workable replica of that clip could be 3D printed? Richard
