Hello all,

After loosely looking around for a GMT800 generation Suburban 4wd off and on for a while, I finally stumbled into one - just two streets over from my house. I discovered it while on a walk. It had three things that were important to me this time around: 1) clean, 2) 4wd, and 3) barn doors out back. Saw the owner and i said "one day I'm going to leave my contact info under your windshield wiper and hope you call me if you ever sell." They said "we just bought a new car and yeah, we've been thinking about selling." A couple weeks later, we made a deal and today I brought it home.

One owner 2001 in medium charcoal gray metallic with 150,321 miles. Original window sticker was just found and I feel a little like I won the lottery: 4.10 gears and the "Locking differential - rear axle" option (a $252 option at the time). Woot! For an LS model, it's got some nice options - leather, second row captain chairs, sunroof, tow package, convenience package, 6-way power seats, and more.

I've owned too many vehicles to mention - including a beautiful 1976 Suburban 3/4 ton with small block and SM465 manual trans some years ago. I wanted my next one to be newer and 4wd. We do a lot of camping and backroads wheelin' all over including Death Valley and Mojave. Nothing crazy, just enough to keep most of the masses away so that we truly get out by ourselves.

I'm going to mostly keep this stock with the exception of suspension and wheels/tires (okay, and if it holds together, I may treat it to a front selectable locker).

Now I need to search around this forum to see what it's going to take to get a set of 305/65r18's (roughly 12"x33.5") on it. That may be too ambitious, but i have a great set of take-off Falken ATW3's from my F150 that I returned to stock since it's my daily (i picked up about 3mpg by switching back). This 'burb is for fun and camping, so it has to work well and be reliable but doesn't have to get the world's best MPG. Also in the must-have's is new leather seat covering (drvr and psngr) and new seat foam.

At any rate, hello, all!
