Hi Everybody,
I have an 04 Tahoe with a cd/cassette radio. The cd no longer ejects but the big thing is I want to be able to have a jack installed so that I can plug my phone and or Ipod into it.
Anyone have a solution for this?

Do a search on ebay for an ipod interface. I have one in my 03 Silverado. Plugs into the optional remote cd changer port on the factory radio. You can control the Ipod with the cd buttons on the radio, and it also chargers the Ipod. Works great

Well if you want to integrate with your factory stereo then this is what you want:

But if your CD player does not work, then I would recommend you just get an aftermarket stereo. The one 02Beast posted would work just fine.

i saw a thread on gmt400.com where you can actually solder in a AUX jack into the stock head unit, but considering you can get head units for $100 now, i dont know how worth it, it really is

Ive done a few. In my 99 I converted it over from din and a half to double din wasnt too bad dut did have to cut the rear support out of the dash to make it work. Ive also installed them on the 03 and up trucks but depending on what radio you get and how much room is needed will depend on what you need to cut out. I really couldnt tell a difference with the rear support cut out.

Anyone have a solution for this?

I added an aux port to my truck for about 2 or 3 bucks and about 30 to 45 minutes of my time. All I did was pick up a jack at radio shack and tapped it into my factory stereo wiring. This worked out really easy for me, I have a factory head unit with a CD player and down below I have the factory slave tape deck. With the jack I purchased I cut the "left in" and "right in" wires and hooked them to one side, and then hooked the other end of the wire to the other side. Doing it this way the jack works as a switch when the plug is inserted. I did this so the tape deck will still work ... even though I never listen to tapes, but I can't stand to have something in the truck that doesn't work. So that being said ... when I insert the 3.5 plug from my mp3 player/phone/etc., it bypasses the audio coming from the tape deck and plays from the device I plugged in. Going this route you do have to press the tape/aux button on the head unit and have a tape playing when you are using it. I would imagine that this would work with the slave CD unit just as easy. From what I have read most of these radios have a slave plug on the back of them even if it is not being used. Easiest route if you do not have a slave unit is to visit a local salvage yard and grab just the slave unit (just make sure you have the place to plug it in on your unit first). (I do have a friend with a F**d that did the same thing with just his head unit, doesn't sound as good and he has to keep the volume turned down because it distorted if he doesn't ... just added this to say it can be done with others as well). I did this a couple years ago so I don't remember every wire color but this is the link to the thread I found that gave me the basic information to get me started here: http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1762475

I did not follow the way the OP of the thread did his completely as i am sure someone else can put their own spin on it as I did ... but the basic information is very helpful.

Here are the basics, but I would suggest going to the link above to get more information:
It applies to some radios in GM vehicles built during or after 1995.

Pin-out of 9-pin AUX connector:
1. Battery Out - Orange
2. E & C Data - Darker Green
3. Ground Out - Black
4. Audio Com In - Light Brown
5. Left In - Orange w/ black stripe
6. Right In - Lighter Green
7. Voice + in - Bare w/ clear tubing
8. Dimming Out - Gray
9. R14 Out - Blue

The 9-pin aux connector is GM aux adaptor. It uses its own proprietary data system (Entertainment and Comfort Control). This connecter is used to connect GM branded CD changers, tape players, OnStar, and possibly AUX adaptors. GM radios are made by Delco, Delco does not release any information about their products until 5 years after first production.

Some radio's have an AUX button, while other radio's have a CD/Play button. These buttons are used to switch between CD (built-in or add-on), CD-changers, tape players (built-in or add-on), and possibly AUX adapters.

Hope this helps someone out.
