I have only ever used magnaflow or flowmaster, I like both brands and I'm very familiar with them, I know MBRP and AFE make good diesel exhaust kits, but how are the gas truck ones if anyone has them? Haven't really looked at them or know much about them, trying to research for my brothers truck it's an 06 Chevy silverado 1500 CCSB 5.3L

i tend to stay away from popular brands, i put a $750 cat back on my 97 z71 and a couple months later i was having new tires put on it and the guy who lifted it pinched the exhaust and the refused to fix it, that being said, i dont want to spend that much money on an exhaust again, on my 2000 i have a gibson cat back, cost me less then $350, and in my opinion, it sounds better then magnaflow, if you just want performance, and you just want mufflers, on my 97, i currently have moroso spiral flows, another great sound, plus they are as close as you can get to straight pipes with still having mufflers, so performance is great

I have a dynomax VT on my truck. I had a heartthrob system on my last truck and it sounded great and was loud but it droned so bad it wasn't funny. So I wanted something different for my new truck. The dynomax guaranteed zero drone. They were right. It's not as loud but still sounds great.

He ended up just getting me to pick up a magnaflow dual exit cat back, I'll be installing it, hopefully goes smooth, kit part number is 15792, it fits both EXT cab SB and crew cab short bed (5.5 ft)

Thank you for the input fellas, these set ups sound like great ideas, I may try one of them on my 02 at some point, I'd like this thread to stay active as a discussion point for set ups to provide answers to people who are looking to revamp or add exhaust for the first time, hopefully it will help someone

Corsa DB 24200 cat back on my 2000. Love it. Unique growl at idle. I get asked all the time what exhaust I have. Accelerating its awesome. Not loud enough to bother my 13 month old inside but ppl do turn and look. Cruising its nearly stock inside.

Thinking about doing an exhaust on my truck and was wondering if anyone has heard of flowsound mufflers? Local guy recommended them, said they are the same as flow masters but cheaper. Also, what's the benefits of single vs dual exhaust?

These trucks seem to like free flowing mufflers, so straight through like a magnaflow, rather than chambered like a flowmaster, I have a Magnaflow SS on my silver truck, I love it, and dual exhaust looks better in my opinion, also more surface area and pipe to disperse waste heat, also sends sound to both sides of the road better [emoji41]

Although flowmaster dual kits have a better hanger system and run the pipe better than the magnaflow kit, I bought the flowmaster kit, rocked it for a year or so switched to another flowmaster muffler still wasn't happy, truck wasn't either, just had a muffler shop cut my old flowmaster out and stick the magnaflow in way better, truck is happier now aswell

The new kit will have a 3" pipe back to the muffler from the Y pipe and then two 2.5" pipes after the muffler

My 06 didn't seem to like the flow master either. Sure did like the sound though. Really considering going with a magnaflow, with dual pipes coming out 90 degrees behind the rear tires with the small, straight cut tips with rolled edges. Everybody and their brother has big angle cut tips, straight out the back. I like to be different.

Everybody runs flowmasters too, not sure that I've ever heard a magnaflow in person. I've tried YouTube but it all sounds the same to me. I have to hear it in person.

For what it's worth I'm running a magnaflow on my 88 and like it. I will be installing one on my 01 soon.
