Hey guys, I'm looking for some info on the theft lock systems.

I have a 01 1/2ton with the theft lock system that is pretty well finished being on the road.
I bought a 2001 3/4 ton to replace it but its a base model, crank windows, tape deck radio.

i wanted to swap the radio over, I'm assuming the theft lock system will stop me from doing that?

also is it possible to swap power power windows over? are these trucks pre wired for power windows ?

I'd buy a different deck from crutchfield.com

or crutchfield.ca if you are in Canada

I recommend a pioneer single din unit most have blue tooth and every option a newer truck would offer, I just bought a DEH-X6810BT for my 2002 GMC Sierra, I love it

The theft lock may activate when you try to use it in your new truck and the cost to get it deactivate and set it to your new truck is about the same as a new one off the above websites

As for the doors you'll need the BCM swapped over cuz your new truck may not have one being all manual options, you'd have to remove everything the other truck has and transfer it over

Thanks for the info.
Thats what I was thinking.. I'm just not crazy about after market decks in the trucks. i might get a double din and it should be ok.

Im going to assume that swapping over the bcm is a huge job? any one ever do it before?

The double din will require a lot of modification to fit in a 99-02, the single din fits perfect and look right at home in the truck

It'd be a big job, I'm sure people have done it but you have to route the cable bundles and the BCM into the new truck, you'll see how it all goes together when you try to rip the stuff out of your old truck
