    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

Here's what I did temporarily. I compared that trim piece with my 06 Suburban and that one "seems" more rigid. I'm guessing maybe they revised it?

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

Well, I'm happy to say that the windshield fluttering noise is GONE! I'll probably run a small bead of black rtv under it?

    Engine hours meter reset question

I'm pretty sure the mileage (and engine hours) are stored in the cluster itself. Maybe the cluster was replaced? In earlier years they hadvstfpper motor issues, and later on they've developed parasitic drains due to lead free solder breaking down. I actually had a cluster programmed to mileage...

    Upgraded Transmission/oil lines?

This is the video I was thinking about. He starts talking about the hydroboost re routed lines around the 13 minute mark. His next video shows the system completed.

    Upgraded Transmission/oil lines?

Oh, just remembered Lawrence Tolman on one his last few weekly videos custom made some cool hydraulic hoses for his hydroboost system. I can't remember the details and actually didn't even know you can make those yourself. I'll see if I can find that video later...

    Upgraded Transmission/oil lines?

Not the AN, but I was looking at the Dorman upgraded version. I wound up going with the GM Genuine replacements... https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/dorman-62340xd-engine-oil-cooler-lines-improved-design.148980/

    Bed removal question

Yes, they do have loctite from the factory. Heat would definitely help. I once helped my brother remove the bed of his 90 c1500 and he used this old Matco 1/2" air impact I have. He didn't have to use heat, just zipped them out. I remember he initially tried using my Dewalt cordless impact but...

    Wanted: GMT800 K1500-Pickup....NO RUST

Can post an add on Facebook Marketplace? Basically say, "looking for truck XYZ". Maybe put a fake photo with a table full of packs of $100 Benjamins? Lol

    Miklo's 2001 Silverado 2500HD Build Thread

I would honestly just keep the mechanical fan. AFAIK, the HDs have always kept the mechanical fans, even the current generation of trucks, gas or diesel. The reason is mechanical fan cools better under really heavy towing. It's simple and and it works. At idle is where electric fans offer...

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

Interesting. Windshield seal on the interior? Mine is on the passenger side, somewhere near the top. The strange thing is I got my windshield replaced last year, and no change. And that was the second windshield replacement actually. I was thinking maybe buying a GoPro camera knock-off from...

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

No real updates. Have been driving it to a local-ish job in Waxahachie. Had a bit of of delayed crank and it was just loose battery posts. No big deal. Did an oil change because light showed up yesterday. Otherwise the little 5.3 and the transmission just purr...in spite of how many unknown...

    Aftermarket for the 8.1L

I think only the PCV was revised around 2003 or so, and that was supposed to help a bit with oil consumption? Not sure if that's part of the intake or not? Otherwise I think they are really the same from 2001 until the production end with 2007 Classic Silverado HD.

    Upgrades.

Is the Suburban a 2wd? If so, I would recommend you spend the money where you really need it and swap a 4L80e. The long wheelbase SUVs were really the heaviest vehicles with the 4L60e, and not uncommon to have a transmission failures even under regular, light use. The 4x4 version makes the...

    Upgrades.

I would agree and say leave the Silverado engine alone if you are going to supercharge it down the road. You can just tear it down and get new bearings, and gap the piston rings accordingly. On the Suburban, a mild cam (plus tune) should get you a good additional 25 HP. Nothing wild, which...

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

Welcome to the forum! I've owned a 99 Silverado since I was in college, bought in 2008 from the original owner and it had like 88k. Came originally with a V6, which was really underpowered, but chugged along. Put many miles on it and around 2019 started have issues with the engine, but the...

Climate Control Backlights and fan speed control are broken

I have the auto climate control on my 06 Suburban and a few years ago I replaced the lights. Did the LED upgrade, I believe from ebay. It was really easy. Took maybe 30 minutes. They should have the same kits for your specific module. And your fan speed not working on setting 4 may be your...

    Miklo's 2001 Silverado 2500HD Build Thread

That's a generic misfire code. Some basic scanner only give you that code, not the cylinder specific code where the last number is the offending cylinder. Does your scanner give live data or misfire counts per cylinder? With live data, you can easily determine if it's vacuum leak. Although not...
