Welcome! That truck is gonna be a riot! Since you are going with larger rims, have you considered the factory big brake upgrade for the fronts? I always vote 4L80e from the get-go when you are planning any performance upgrades. Get the transmission out of the way. I swapped a junkyard 4L80e...

    Joining from Missouri

That's normal on this year truck ( I thought it was 3 times though?). That's the 99-02 generation. On the 03+, they added a setting on the left (momentary switch, which you turn counterclockwise) on the knob, that disables the daylight running lamps (DRL). Truck looks great BTW!

    Window switch question

    Correct. My 99 has a BCM. All GMT800 use BCM. I don't believe my 00 K3500 GMT400 has a BCM AFAIK.

    Dead 4x4, and/or dead 4L60?

    Yes, 4L60e = 27 spline output shaft 4L80e = 32 spline output shaft

    Dead 4x4, and/or dead 4L60?

Good to hear that. Lawrence Tolman did a similar swap on the K2500 GMT400 suburban he had briefly on his channel. I think it should be very close to your swap and he shows the electronics portion as well:

    Torsion Bar Ride Quality

That's probably because the torsion bar stiffness/rate is a function of the GVWR of the truck (and is a 4x4), not based on the engine size. On my 99 (2wd, so coil spring) when I did a V6 to V8 swap, I didn't even think about the "added weight sagging the front more," or anything like that...

    Torsion Bar Ride Quality

Handling and performance? Have you looked doing a coil-over conversion? That system from Atomic Fabrication can be tailored to your truck prescisely. Not inexpensive though, so maybe not an option, but still worth a look: https://atomicfabandperformance.com/product/9906torsionbarcoiloverkit/

    Dead 4x4, and/or dead 4L60?

Yes, you can covert to the manual shift (floor shift) Tcase, but you have do some rewiring. There's videos out there that show you how to do it. I think the NP241 ( the third digit "1" indicates it's a floor shift unit) is the one that fits?

    Greetings! Newbie here.

Wow! Beautiful truck! Those trucks are one of the Holy Grails of the GMT800s :) Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forum!

    Dead 4x4, and/or dead 4L60?

Unfortunately, we don't have a (4L60e) transmission guru here, so I will try my best to offer advice: 1. Start with the basics. Fluid levels okay? ATF and Tcase. Tcase are known to have fluid loss through the pump rub issue. Not uncommon for guys that just bought one of these truck to check and...

Transfer case not shifting into 4x4

Check out post #8 & #11 here: performancetrucks.net/forums/tuning-diagnostics-electronics-wiring-161/service-4wd-message-560255/ You can take it apart and measure the resistance of that wheel. Mine was very erratic as I was spinning, jumping all over the place. Alldata has instructions on how...

Transfer case not shifting into 4x4

Is that the NP246 (has the round button on top) Autotrak? I had a similar issue on my 04 Suburban and it was the reluctor wheel on the encoder motor. It was like $20 part shipped from Rockauto.

    GMT800 Dilemma

In my experience the SUVs are always much better kept and serviced than the pickups in general. A lot of pickups wind up getting used hauling stuff, or work trucks. SUVs are normally family haulers so folks stay more on top of maintenance. Pickups (especially the 1500 short bed) are also...

    Work out of my garage/driveway

Yeah, a lot of 4L60e do live very long lives. The one on my 99 made it to 260k. At around 225k it did start having that P1870 code, which is common issue with the TCC valve/valve bore wear. I didn't know anything about mechanics back then, much less automatic transmissions. I just kept driving...

    GMT800 Dilemma

Nah, I wouldn't risk it if it's tittled under his name...to many uknowns. You can't find another beater truck or even a car for him? I bet he hardly drives much, right?

    Good brake and rotor kits

There's a thread on here that documents which wheels fit, you may want to check it out: https://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/gmt-k2xx-trucks-general-discussion-221/4-piston-calipers-fitment-wheels-list-558552/page7/ If you know the backspacing on your Ram wheels, you may want to compare...
