My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

"But there was a weird slapping sound while on the highway." Sounds like a fluttering/tapping noise, near the roof/windshield around 60-65MPH+? That thing eluded me for years! Check out my thread, post #125-135

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

Finally did that leveling job and bought a pallet of flooring, and did a landfill trip. I applied a tiny bit of black rtv to the windshield trim, applied to masking tape to hold it in place and let it cure. Confirmed fluttering noise is gone. And I washed the old truck. I'm at like 273k now...

    Clearance question 2000’ sierra

I have lift spindles on my 99 Silverado 2wd, i think they are 2 1/2, maybe 3"? I don't remember; I've had them since like 2014. Maybe they are Rough Country? I did the the 4 piston 2019 brake upgrade (not Brembo though). I ground the calipers, but that was because of my oem 18" wheels. The...

    Miklo's 2001 Silverado 2500HD Build Thread

Dang. Looks great! You are basically almost halfway to a frame-off restoration job. LOL The folks in the rustbelt would be stoked to see this frame condition up there...

    Help with Bell Housing Bolts

Good post. Yes a super long extension is a must to remove those top bellhousing bolts. I have a 3/8" and 1/2", I think 36" or 30" maybe? I find the little gas lines and transmission dipstick brackets actually more difficult to remove and replace. Those have a smaller, I think 13 mm size nut that...

    Tailgate Bumpers

Umm. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I'll have to see if my truck even have them anymore?

2002 Chevy 1500 LS 4.8L ABS module help

Yeah, as @AuroraGirl asked, what codes do you have? On the ABS (EBCM) module, many folks have successful simply opened it up and reflowing the solder on them. There's YT videos showing how to do it. The EBCM on my 99 failed a few years ago, and when I removed it, the little coils were rusted...

New '06 LBZ owner. Could use some input on mods/upgrades/common issues.

Nice! Yeah, cabin filters were only on the 00-02 models. I thought there was an aftermarket kit to add it though? I can't recall? Is that truck a 4x4? If so, maybe a transfer case fluid replacement is a good idea? Same for the differential(s)?

MBRP exhaust on a 99 silverado?

I don't know the answer, but welcome to the forum from another 99 Silverado owner. Doesn't your truck have the Y-shaped exhaust that connects to the exhaust manifolds as a single piece? Then that connects to the resonator, IIRC? That's how it is on my 99. Not sure how the cateye are routed. I...

    SE badge

Mine started to melt off on the passenger side this past summer. Driver's side is still fine. I'm thinking it was planned obsolescence! LOL

Nice! I don't know anything about diesels, but do have a buddy with an LBZ.

    2WD “Performance” Suspension package

Nice! Is your truck the Vortec Max by any chance? There were a few 1500 2wd that did have the front torsion bar front suspension: VortecMax, Silverado SS and Intimidator SS, IIRC. But the regular 1500 2wd were steering rack AFAIK. Somewhere in there is where they introduced the 14 bolt 6 lug AXN...

    Miklo's 2001 Silverado 2500HD Build Thread

Looking good! You are still planning on painting your frame, right? Not sure if you removed the harness off the truck, but all you have to do is remove it from the transmission and O2 sensors. The only trick is to heat the NSS switch connector gently with a heat gun because they use some sort...

    2WD “Performance” Suspension package

Is your truck lowered? I can't really tell from that photo. I rebuilt the entire front end on my 99 Silverado extended cab 2wd a few years ago: rack and pinion, UCA/LCA ball joints, bushings, sway bar links, basically everything. GM Genuine ball joints, AC Delco and a few Delphi for the...

    Keep driving your GMT800s?

Good points @Cadillacmak on the lack of qualified technicians, dealerships being "parts changers" and overly complicated, overpriced and unnecessary technology on the newer vehicles. New vehicles requiring bumper removal to replace the headlight bulbs is kinda comical compared to our generation...

    Keep driving your GMT800s?

I came across this interesting article: https://www.npr.org/2025/10/29/nx-s1-5556935/cost-of-living-cars This graph is just shocking! Surely there's got to be an increase on auto maintenance due to inflation, but to me it looks like the costs of repairs alone are getting out of control...

    2nd Gear Starts - Random

Huh? I had never heard of this before... Maybe on the tuning tables one can look to see if that's the case? IDK?
