Transmission Coolers Full of Debris, Transmission Hot Mode 4l80e

Your lines were full of debris?! Clutch material? Do you have any transmission codes? Yes, both the 4L60e and 4L80e have the same diameter, both around 3/8" IIRC. But different routing, etc. I would suggest you either flush or replace the auxiliary cooler and/or radiator if you had a lot of...

    Reduced engine power

The ECM (or PCM) is located on the front driver's side, between rhe fender well and the frint clip...it has a plastic cover that literally just snaps on.

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Converting a 2wd to a 4x4 on the 4L60e/4L80e...easy, just have to swap the output shaft...the output shaft is the FIRST thing that goes on the assembly, meaning you have to completely tear down the unit...to get to it. Regarding the 4.8 on the 2500/3500 Express vans: I suspect GM decided to use...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Agree. Always best to buy the most complete engine you can find. Otherwise sourcing the "little things" winds up costing a lot of time and money. Since we on the topic of throttle bodies, you can expand your search of engines for the 03-05(?) Express vans. Those kept cable throttle bodys...

    Reduced engine power

I've never had this issue myself (except when reflashing a tune using HP Tuners, but deleting the code is all it takes). There's a TSB on replacing the throttle body pigtail, which I think is where the problem lies. I believe the wires start breaking down, even though they look fine on the...

    Good brake and rotor kits

2019+ Silverado brake upgrade? I did the first (after originals), front pads on my 1999 Silverado at around 120k using dealership pads. Second set of AAP's highest line around 225k. Those dusted badly but otherwise seemed fine. I replaced the rear pads around 230k, I think with something from...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

You don't have to buy an engine that has throttle cable, just swap the throttle body or intake. That's what I did on my V6 to 5.3 swap on my 99. The L59 was from a 2004 Yukon XL with drive by wire. Maybe there's a little difference on the hoses/nipples, but it can still work w/o any issues...

    Diff Leak

Looks pretty clean overall. No issue with that differential. Do you know if it has the RPO code G80 locker? If so, that one requires a gear oil without any friction modifiers. Check your owners manual and glove box for the RPO codes.

    Fuel Composition Pid

Ok, that's correct. I guess I was confusing the alcohol content senser on the GMT900? Do you ever run that flex fuel in your truck? If not, I'm pretty sure you can simply get rid of it on the ECU tune. Then it will run like a regular non-flex fuel engine.

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Ah, ok...So like a destroked 6.0 then? Should be fine. I built a 6.0 using a Gen IV block, and sourced a used 5.3 Gen III crankshaft. I took it to my local machine shop along with pistons and everything else for a balancing job. They had to install those heavy slugs to get it to balance since...

    Fuel Composition Pid

Weird. Codes are lean on bank 1 and rich on bank 2. I believe when the the alcohol levels get screwed up, it affects both bank the same way, no? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? I believe this year has an alcohol content sensor? Not sure how you can test that?

    99 1500 4.8 oil separator options

I put a cheap Amazon catch can on my 06 Suburban LQ4 after I dropped in after doing a DIY freshen up rebuild...the intake was pretty grimy when I was cleaning up the parts for reassembly. I should have also upgraded to the updated valve covers, but I didn't. Seems to be working well: there are a...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

The 4.8 has a shorter stroke than the 5.3/5.7/6.0, or not sure I'm following you on that? Long crankshaft 6.0 would be perfect to pair with a 4L80e (4L80e swap your truck is what I'm saying here...) Why would want to use a TH350 or weaker 700R4 or first gen 4L60e? They sell custom torque...
