    Lesson learned - GMT900 Regret, GMT800 Reset

What do I mean? The 4.8L V8s all lived harder lives; I don't think as many of them were made as the 5.3L, and I don't think as many 4.8L will still be around as 5.3L V8s. However, some 4.8L and some 5.3L V8s were made with blocks that say "4.8L-5.3L-6.0L" (all three displacements) on their...

From Bronco to Burb - new to me 2002 Z71 Suburban

If your engine NEEDS 89 or 91 to avoid knocking, that's a sign of some kind of issue inside the combustion chamber that needs a fixing. I'd start by removing plugs and sticking some kind of scope in the plug hole to get a look at the combustion chamber. 5.3L V8s should be able to tow ≈ 8,000 on...

    Lesson learned - GMT900 Regret, GMT800 Reset

Willing to bet money I don't have, that less 4.8L engines will survive vs however many 5.3L vs however many 6.0L. Hopefully the 4.8L blocks that say "4.8L-5.3L-6.0L" (all three displacements) on their front passenger side survive, and get bored out to 6.0L.

Just wondering why that article left out the LMF, LH8, & LH9 5.3L V8s ... It'll be interesting to compare the Gen4 V8s' longevity to the Gen3 V8s'. Willing to bet against engines that include Engine Half@$$ ...

    Lesson learned - GMT900 Regret, GMT800 Reset

GMT900s are good - leased one for nearly 200,000 mostly trouble-free miles, although Engine Half@$$ led to significant oil consumption. But it's known that the best GMT900s LACK unnecessary complexities. GMT800s are better for everything they LACK compared to GMT900s - no unnecessary...

    Stutaeng's 2006 Suburban 2500

PowerStop has never disappointed me; mid-90s LT1 Caprices, '12 Chevy Caprice PPV by Holden (particularly impressive from 110MpH-0 panic stop), '12 GMC Yukon XL, and now my '02 Tahoe Z71's 2010 Suburban front brake kit. Would not be surprised if GM OE uses PowerStop stuff from time to time.

Some time after the GMT800 came out, I THINK GM got the idea that more and more people give up their new cars at the end of the lease, GM started seeing new cars they were building more like the way Appl sees their new phones - why make them last if they're just gonna 'upgrayedd' when the lease...

You said 'ass'. Yay. For $16,000 should be able to find a used GMT800 in very nice condition, a 6.0L, and either a 4L60E or 4L80E of your choice. Or, two GMT800s ...

Looking at your sig, odds are (cannot guarantee) that your '02 likely has a mechanical cable throttle, so your '02 PROBABLY has a P01, aka 12200411. your '05 likely has an electrical signal throttle, so your '05 PROBABLY has a P59, aka 12586242. Although there are several exceptions, the gist is...

    4L60E Front pump failure.

Why did you get a ported throttle body? What other mods did you do to support this? Also, you're supposed to pick one - - or the other, not both. If you failed to inform the tuner that you installed a shift kit, before he turned up the line pressures, he can't protect you from yself.
