    What is this part?

I believe that's an auxiliary electric vacuum pump for the brake booster. It's connected to engine vacuum and then to the booster, right? I've never seen one in person but that's what it looks like to me. Our 06's don't have that. So.. whether it can be simply removed, dunno. Richard

    New to GMT800

Can you get some clear pics of the melted shaft end? I haven't done any real work on the interior side of the A/C on a GMT800 yet (other than the blower motor resistor module, twice now...) so I'm a bit unfamiliar with the setup. Also need to fix the recirculate on my truck but from what I've...

    New to GMT800

Howdy Vince, welcome from another GMT400'er ;) The redesigned (many times) intermediate steering shaft and lower column bearing should cure the clunk, and the A/C service ports are fairly simple to replace. I did the service ports on my '06 recently as they showed signs of slight leakage...

I think it's usually in a pull-down list similar to how they indicate whether you're getting regular stock or close-out items. It was a little confusing to me because I saw that and selected it from the pull-down and the part # didn't change. At any rate, I got these in, and they look good...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Figured with the extreme inactivity here :( I posted this over on GMT400.com in the "other vehicles" section, and have continued the rest of the story on to the present day. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/2006-silverado-ss-intimidator-resurrection.71107/ Richard

Yeah.. unfortunately I'm feeling you on this one. The dude from Tajikistan is a spammer that has posted 2K messages and only 2 of them haven't been deleted, LOL. Surprised he's still a member, and not banned. Richard

OK, what we're missing from the picture is the tax. $7.08 for me which is where the difference came in. Oh, also you got different part #'s - there's a couple buck difference for the CAPA certified ones, and different part #'s too - 20638690, 20638590 Richard

Is that the usual RA discount code or also military discount? When I put both of those in my cart over there, add the $9.99 UPS shipping, and the usual discount code - my total was $94.49. Still way better than paying more than 3X that - $360 at current pricing of the GM parts! Got mine in...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

08-18-2021 Truck wouldn't start, sounded like low battery. It's got a whole bunch of fairly recent good quality parts in the starting/charging system, so it's kind of a bummer it won't start. Throw the battery charger on it, says it's fine. Tried the 60A jump start mode, still no dice. Assumed...

08-06-2020 Blower motor resistor failed, and the fan is running full speed even with the key off! Had to pull the fan cover down and disconnect the fan. "Lifetime warranty" replacement (recommended; these seem to go bad frequently) from BWD purchased through Advance.. came without the new...

11-22-2019 driver front wheel bearing going out, ordered an AC Delco replacement and swapped it. Had been driving my 300 in the meantime. Easy job; takes longer to set up and clean up than actually swap it. New AC Delco bearing made in Korea. :( 03-17-2020 "Day off" rotors, pads, and...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Man, I only wish that 4 post lift was in my place. Those pics are at the muffler shop. I'm currently working out of a "2 car" garage that might be big enough for 2 older Hondas, IF I didn't have any toolboxes, parts, supplies, shelves, work tables, lawn equipment, or anything else in here but...

12-08-2018 picked up some OEM Silverado foglamps and switch since the SS has the harness already in place, figured it'd be a simple upgrade. Had to make some brackets to get them positioned behind the brake ducts, though. Just used some flat stock from the box store and made mock-up patterns...

06-06-2018 the "GM Genuine" headlights I bought just a year ago are already peeling on the clearcoat. 03-16-2018 Ever had one of those Fridays where adding beer to it would NOT help? The struggle is real All 8 bulbs replaced, about 5 bucks and an hour's work. Or spend 120ish on new switches. Hmmm Upper switches pretty easy. lower ones tricky to remove and worse to re-install due to wires...
