    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

The fleetside taillights changed in 2003 to this style, along with the change up front to the "cat eye" headlight setup. Richard

2005 Tahoe driver's door hinge pins

Good to hear, I couldn't imagine them making it harder to get the pins out. Surprised to hear you went with Dorman bushings and that they haven't disintegrated yet! I'd have to go with Cunningham or similar. They do offer bushings for the GMT800's...

2005 Tahoe driver's door hinge pins

Haven't done them on a GMT800 (yet) - are you sure about having to grind the heads off? They don't just tap out after you remove a retainer, like the 400 pins? If so.. bleh. Interested in what you discover. I'd suggest looking up a YT video but honestly I often avoid doing so myself, because...

    Tried/Considered Hellwig Bars

Years ago I used a Hellwig rear bar on a 1994 C2500LD and it seemed to help out a lot. This was the lowered black extended cab shortbed you've probably seen in other posts. It was dropped, front suspension fully rebuilt with poly bushings, then I added the rear bar. All that combined with the...

Let's see pics of your tools and boxes/cabinets

With any of the trucks parked in this garage, if the door is closed, I have to be working only on the accessible side of the truck! Pretty much no room front/rear to get around. Takes some planning ahead, especially for things that need work on both sides. But I hear ya. Richard

Father and Son 1955 Chevy Truck Build

Good thing the cab didn't take you out! Now where have I seen that wheel chock method used before? ;) Gave me just enough room using 4 of them to prop the bed up on Critter so I could chop out the homemade gooseneck mount and cut the frame for the C-notch. Y'all should've seen me using a...

Let's see pics of your tools and boxes/cabinets

My little "2 car garage" (if you have 2 SMALL cars) setup isn't much to look at but I get by. I sure miss having my old shop with all the space to work, and all the equipment that I've since let go of - pair of engine hoists, transmission jack, chain hoist, several nice steel worktables, floor...

Let's see pics of your tools and boxes/cabinets

Sounds like it had a lot of air in the system caused by the leaking water pump, which was behind the initial complaint. Replacing the pump solved the more immediate issue, but took some work to get the system bled so that heat was corrected. Good thing they brought it to you or they may have...

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Can't agree with this more. If you do indeed replace the resistor module be sure to get one with the lifetime warranty. Keep the truck a few years and you'll make use of that warranty. Richard

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Not yet!! I mean, it's a nice truck, and was pretty damn reliable - you just jump in start it and go. It's easy to drive. It's.. uneventful? Usually? But since it's been gone I've replaced it with Critter (my '93 dually) for daily driver purposes, and that's kind of an adventure. It's good...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

01-14-2025 Front brakes demanding attention. Squealer tabs, although in the correct orientation on this truck, didn't warn me that one of the pads had gotten thin enough it was just hitting metal on metal and grooving the back of the rotor. Hadn't had them cut since buying new a few years ago...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

12-12-2024 Dove into the rear brakes today, which I've been procrastinating forever.. I HATE doing these style drums, with that evil W spring and the crazy parking brake cable attachment. Anyway looks like I caught them just in time; the front shoe on both sides was just about to the metal, but...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

10-18-2024 Marking the biannual washing of the Redneckinator. It's all swirl marks, water spots, and dead clear on the roof. :( Need to find someone I can trust to buff this stuff out. Also thinking about having the roof re-cleared, or probably re-painted if necessary, as it really takes away...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Yeah, I figured with 4 vehicles to maintain in the Texas heat, as well as the need to do the full A/C rebuild on the '93 to replace bad components and simultaneously upgrade to all the parts spec'd for a '94 so it's "R134a from go" - it seemed like a good idea to go ahead and invest in a vacuum...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Agility includes some super cheaply made adapters with the wires crossed. I don't like the idea but I want my fans working so I hook them to the truck harness, but they won't plug into the motors. The new motors have keys inside the socket, and the adapters they included aren't shaped...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

Sorry for that whole book in the previous post! It took some thinking to get on track with what was going on when I should've noticed in the first place the fans weren't running. I guess at standstill it wasn't quite hot enough to get over temp, and moving was enough airflow that the A/C even...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

10-02-2024 Couple days ago the A/C is blowing HOT and I mean hot like the heater is on. As I started moving, it got cold again. Sit at a traffic light and it starts blowing hot. I asked over on PT dot net and got some unexpected answers - apparently more than a few people have had blend door...

    2006 Silverado SS Intimidator resurrection

10-26-2024 Auto-dimming side mirror on Redneckinator went bad; the electrochromic juice inside is loose! This results in a distorted, multiple image. Not good. Replacement glass is $130 (auto-dimming, heated, w/turn signal) so ya gotta be careful popping the new one into place. With...
