04 down, Suburban to the rescue! Battery was dead after sitting attached to the U-haul trailer overnight. Quick jump, no biggie, Just a money shot of both of our daily's.

The look on his face says it all! LOL That reminds me of the axle shafts I got for the 8.6 rebuild a few years back. Delivered in two separate boxes, one intact, the other, well... the entire axle shaft was sitting on the porch, except for the flange, that was the only part actually "in" the...

Interesting! I wonder if this is a new thing? I don't think the previous 6 or so bottles were taped over. Having 3 cars with clutch-style limited slips I keep this stuff on stocking level. If I use a bottle I typically buy two to replace it, that way I never run out.

Box came today. Did it get run over en-route? Honestly, it doesn't look that bad. But it was pretty clearly opened/damaged. I've never received Posi-additive with tape over the cap like this before. I've bought A LOT of posi-additive too. Motorcraft XL3 from RA is my favorite, its only $6...

Man, thanks for the education! I had no idea they were different! Admittedly, I have worked on very few early gmt800s. I think the clusters may be a little different. 99-02 looks to have the information readout over on the left, while newer clusters moved this down underneath the gear selection...

    FEDEX RANT

I have never had a problem caused by RA themselves, only shipping issues and once a bad part. I bought two SKF hubs and one was very obviously a used part repackaged. I went online and they promptly sent me a new one. I have had two packages come without RA tape and that is the biggest indicator...

Oh man! That is pain! I guess I should just be thankful it will be here tomorrow. That is part of the reason I couldn't live in Alaska (despite how absolutely beautiful it is). I actually was having a conversation with my wife's older brother about this the last time we were in Juneau. I think...

Currently on hold with FEDEX and giving them HELL! Supposedly RA only selected "home delivery"... whatever that means. From my experience, RA doesn't have any "people" and I process my own purchases... hmmm Edit- This phone call is pointless. It is "already loaded on a truck"- They cannot...

Because of this, I would assume your stepper motor is on the way out. This is a very common issue with GMT800 clusters. When one stepper goes, it is common for the others to follow. I replaced my cluster at 230-ish because of a failed oil pressure stepper motor. Mine would move to the right when...

    FEDEX RANT

Just as the title says, this is going to be a rant. I need to get this off my chest. I ordered some parts last week from RA and paid extra for 2-day guaranteed shipping so they would be here when I finished my weekend shifts on Monday. Within a day box went from Colorado to Iowa, and then...

Thank you guys for both adding these tips! So helpful in building this forum and giving guys the confidence to work on their own stuff! I am like both of you, I take so many pictures of disassembly. I typically focus on placement and routing of wires and vacuum lines, but I may start taking...

I'm decent about labeling parts about 50% of the time. If I know what they're for the chance they get labeled goes up. Otherwise, they often get tossed in the 5-gallon bucket I call the bin of randomness. It is absolutely full of random ****, and I think people toss more things in there to mess...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Truck is all back together and functioning much better! Only mistake (If you even consider it that) is I installed the rear u-joint in a position where I cannot access the grease zerk. I have the same issue with the conversion joints in the 93, so I flipped the orientation on the rear one on...

Definitely! interestingly, I had never heard the infamous "clunk" on my own personal truck until I used the aftermarket yoke. But, I have heard and fixed it on other trucks. When I slapped the driveshaft in I greased the lip of the seal, the splines of the yoke and the splines of the output...

Sounds good, don't mess with what works huh? Grease, grease, and more grease is my way too! I already pre-lubed the yoke and output shaft to make sure they were a good fit. I cleaned the output shaft again as I got some PCV trimmings on it... time for more grease!

Thank you! This one is definitely going in the "random special tools" drawer. I really like the look of that, I think I'll need to order up some of that goo! Since I won't have it for assembly tomorrow, would you use general purpose red grease or motor oil? This transfer case calls for 5w30, so...

Random photos from working under the truck today New 1350 yoke installed. This one uses the old style(pre/early 90s) pinion seal Comparison of slip-yokes: Top to bottom -Current aftermarket 3r yoke (I think they sent me a TH400 yoke, the splines don't go all the way to the end like the...

Success! This is some quality jerry-rigg work, if I do say so myself. Seal is in and I included a few pictures of my new install tool. The grooves in the coupler held the seal in place a bit, almost like it was made for this...

Salty mid-west roads. My wife is finishing up her degree in South Dakota, so I took a contract to work here for a year. It is unbelieviable how hard it has been on our old vehicles. I have a seal driver set, but I can't use it here. Output shaft is in the way, and soft taps around the outer...
