    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Currently fighting with the rear transfer-case output seal not wanting to go back in. Building a seal installer out of 2" PVC pipe, and then gonna put it in its' home!

Could not agree more! The highs, midrange, and people actually singing with talented voices... to each their own though Let me see if I can find the technical name of it, but Alpine makes an "inline" amplifier that works pretty good for how little effort it is. That with some speakers is a huge...

Mission for today- driveline (again) Would you believe this slip yoke and ujoints are only about 4 months old? This slip yoke is junk, it is now doing the common clunk/bump when stopping. I've got a AAM 1350 yoke going in. The real problem is the aftermarket 3R Moog joint is moving when...

I need to get after that... but its one of those things that just keeps getting pushed off. My big ass and jeans have polished the metal smooth over the last few years

And some of the under-hood mods! I totally forgot to mention two things earlier in this thread -I'm running coils from a newer truck (2018-ish I think). I was experiencing a strange misfire on one bank and the coil harness looked suspect on that side. These coils are bolt on, plug and play...

Doing some maintenance so I took some pictures: (Yes, my driver seat needs some major love! You can see and feel the metal poking you) Just mocking it up, but that looks like a really nice spot for the airbag controller! I'll get to that in the next few months...probably

Same! I feel like an audio system is the prefect way to personalize your truck! I am not an audio guy by any means, but my go-to has almost always been Alpine for head-units and coax speakers. My results have always been good, and their products don't break the bank. The Alpine head-unit is the...

    Work out of my garage/driveway

No way! I was going to try to describe this rattle as I was reading along with this thread (no idea how to even describe that noise though). My truck has been doing this for YEARS! Obviously it is way worse on dirt roads, but I just ignored it. I guess that's one more thing I need to address...

    Fuel Pump Replacement

Alright, I think I am changing course on this one. I was digging through my boxes of useless car spares today and came across an old airbag setup. I think it was off a gmt900 my old man had back in the day, but I have no idea how I ended up with them. I will have to call him to confirm. I swore...

    Fuel Pump Replacement

I have thought about this, but from what I have read GM installed it that way so the bolt wouldn't poke the tank in the instance of an accident. I have no preference either way, but I would hate for this to be one of those things I look back on later and regret... with crispy skin or...

    Fuel Pump Replacement

I appreciate the opinion, i am waffling on this one bad... Way above my pay rate too, I'm a shade tree type of guy, no special certifications for working on cars! That's why I ask the experts (you guys)!

    Fuel Pump Replacement

Thanks for that suggestion! I'll take a look at them when I drop the tank. This one is pretty rust free so fingers crossed... you never know though.

    Fuel Pump Replacement

Thanks for the reminder, I just copied over my signature now! 4.8, but if I am remembering correctly, the fuel pump was dictated by bed length (unless flex-fuel, that was a different pump) and not 4.8 vs 5.3. It sounds like you're suggesting to just scrap the idea of the aftermarket pump I have...

    Fuel Pump Replacement

I really appreciate the input! The pump is a 'Hella' brand. So not OE. At the time, the GM genuine for my RCSB was not available/discontinued. I did some research and they seem to be a pretty well respected German company and OE supplier. I am really wishy-washy on this one, that's why I am...

    Fuel Pump Replacement

My 04 Sierra currently has 265,000 miles on it. I am working on a set of custom leaf springs to replace the worn out, saggy springs in my truck. As the weather warms up I am going to be swapping them in. But, that brings me to my dilemma. To pull the front bolt on the driver side spring I must...

    OEM upgrades

A couple of my favorites: 2500HD gauge cluster (for transmission temp gauge) and the "big brake" upgrade.

P0200 and P0300 engine codes after Rear Main Seal repair.

Did the harness potentially get stretched or pinched when removing/installing the transmission? Also, what all did you disconnect? I would go over anything you removed/disconnected and reinstalled again. Be diligent about checking ALL of the grounds. After that, I would trace the injector and...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

Revamping the audio system. The blue Soundstream amp we installed years ago finally called it quits. No complaints, we found it stashed in the rafters after it had been pulled out of an old Four Winns. The RCA inputs went bad, but I'm sentimental. I have it stashed away in case I find someone...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

People have their own experiences, but I haven't had any good experiences with detroit axle parts. I had some hubs from them on my GMT400 suburban that didn't even last a year. The chrome lung nuts I bought from them to go with the new 18s (post 17) looked worse after one year than the chrome...

    2004 RCSB 4x4 - The Mail Truck

I have a similar feeling. On my 04 they have dusted more than other semi-metallics I have run. I don't really notice because of the black wheels, but interesting for a ceramic pad. Also, they seem to stop OK, but not great. They fade more and are particularly noisy in cold weather.
