    FW_Z71Burb's 2002 Suburban Z71

I've never been inside a GMT800 Cadillac Escalade. Where I used to work, one of the bosses had a 2009(?) Escalade and rode in it a few times. They are certainly nice. I did have a former coworker with a 2003 or 2004 Tahoe with the 4.8. It had something like 325k when he passed it on to his DIL...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

Taillights? I've sanded my taillights, headlamps and markers down and put some automotive 2k clear on them. The taillights especially came out great.

    Should I?

Awesome! Let me know if you need to borrow any tools. I bought a Harmonic balancer remover and installer tool for my rebuild. It's one of those tools, you basically only use once, or twice... I live in Oak Cliff, but work in Richardson, so that's kinda closer to you, I think? These GMT800...

    Should I?

Sweet! Here's the thread I created for my 6.0 rebuild. There's a service manual PDF I highly recommend you print out and have handy... https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/tty-head-bolts-with-engine-in-vehicle.147231/ Interested in your progress and if you have any questions, feel free to...

GM 10 Bolt 8.625 Rear Differential Carrier Bearing Measurements

Cool. I believe Kent Moore made some dealership/OEM tool that somehow did the same thing? Overly expensive, as are all Kent Moore tools, of course. Lol

    Front suspension rebuild

Have you looked at the Cognito front end stuff? That's the stuff to use for aftermarket lifts and wheels. It's spendy though... For stock suspension, GM Genuine is my preferred brand, but have used AC Delco, Delphi and even some Moog from the local parts store. Always GM Genuine on ball joints...

GM 10 Bolt 8.625 Rear Differential Carrier Bearing Measurements

Interesante... Do you know how that tool works? On your first question, I'm almost positive they are the same. I believe those two variants are identical except for the slightest larger ring gear on the later version.

    Should I?

Is the engine otherwise healthy? If so, I probably wouldn't open it up TBH. I put a mild Summit Racing (8718R1) towing cam on my 06 Suburban 2500 6.0. I had an intermittent lifter tick, so I initially was thinking only lifters and cam. I wound up pulling the engine block after removing the...

    Alternator / Charging system diag

You don't have like 2500 watt sound system, now do you? It never hurts to ask because on these forums and in my experience, folks have said some stuff that's sounds pretty crazy, then after a lot of back-and-forth questions, turns out they leave some detail like that out. LOL The good news is...

    FW_Z71Burb's 2002 Suburban Z71

Nice! We own a 2013 T&C minivan. I remember when I just bought it for my wife back in 2015, I thought "no way would I drive a minivan!" Well, I guess I was too young then, because I don't mind driving now, lol. I really like the sliding doors getting in and out with the kids in standard parking...

    Newby wants to know

I guess what I'm implying is: use the 4x4 frame, then you have the option of running it in 4x4 or converting it to 2wd...

    Newby wants to know

You may want to look into the 1500 suburban/yukon front suspensions for parts interchangeability into the extended cab. As mentioned, the 1500 SUVs are torsion bar front suspension, even the 2wd. I seem to remember on the older generation of trucks, you need to run CV axle on the hubs? If that's...

    Newby wants to know

The parts that will not transfer over are: transmission (4x4 vs 2wd output shaft are different and require a complete teardown to convert one to the other), transfer case, driveshafts (different lengths), front differential, and front suspensions. Rear ends are the same, regardless of 2wd vs...

    New (to me) Shit box.

Yikes! "Drive it 'till the wheels fall off philosophy?" I've always wondered what will happen or how much of a difference driving with only 2 front brakes working properly? Maybe an experiment on a closed-course and measure stopping distance?

    New (to me) Shit box.

Oh, sorry about tbe accident. Hopefully everyone is okay. Do you have a photo of the rear brakes you mentioned? The rotor was disconnected from the hub?! How did that happened? Especially because you are not even in tbe rustbelt?! Otherwise, looks like a clean truck. Early 2500HD I think are...

    2nd Gear Starts - Random

I'm not familiar with the 4L60e, but recommend that you look into the troubleshooting diagnostics on the ATSG manual. Here's a PDF copy of it: https://atoc.ru/uploads/manual/5fb797a513efb.pdf Is this your symptom? Doubt a sprag was installed backwards, but it may be failing intermittently...

    Newby wants to know

As previously mentioned, any rear end will bolt up...GMT800, that is. On the 10 bolt, 6 lug: 99-04 were disc brakes, 05+ switched to drums. SUV were all rear disc, but the 1500 SUV have rear coil springs instead of leaf springs. 2500 Suburban and Avalanche did use leaf springs (but different...
