    Heater Blower Recommendation & Warnings?

Thank you. Two questions, to make sure I understand: 1- I gather that the Cour Seasons blower didn't make wxtra fan noise, correct? 2- how long ago was itnyou installed it? (I ask this because aftermarket sellers sometimes change manufacfurers)

    Heater Blower Recommendation & Warnings?

A little background... I owned a 2001 K1500 Suburban for years. When the heater blower motor went out in 2009, I went to a national store (O'Reilly's I think, but not sure) and bought an aftermarket motor, not the cheapest one. I installed it and it was horribly noise, almost siren-like. I...

    Bosch Alternator Good Buy

Little details on that: "P" stands for "phase". The P terminal is connected to one of the stator phases, upstream of the rectifier; this is why you get an AC signal. It was used by older diesels (that didn't have engine computers) to run the tachometer.

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

I had a 1999 Accord. Parking brake cable sheath cracked, allowing water in the cable, and it froze. I bought a replacement at Advance Auto; the sheath cracked as I was installing it - I returned it. Went to Honda dealer (in a small city) and they had the cable, in stock, for about the same $$...

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

You are correct! Thanks. I used to work for the Delco Remy division of GM, in the alternator aftermarket. Not sure if they still do it, but GM used to be good about having parts after the warranty. If we were going to discontinue a PN, and a reasonable alternative wasn't available (i.e.: use a...

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

If your truck has the stability control system, which has two brake lines to the rear, one per side, you may want to have it done. I didn't want to tackle it, and when I took it to my favorite (small) shop the declined it. Turns out that it took them a whole day to bleed the system on a...

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

GM made a LOT of GMT800s. They ran from 1999-2006 (some lower volumes even later), 7 years, making between 1.2 and 1.8 million per year; probably over 11 million total. There are a lot still running around. Many OE parts are certainly discontinued by now, since GM can stop providing service...

    2nd Gear Starts - Random

Interesting... does yours seem to do it more frequently with passing time? Mine does not seem to be getting worse (doing it more frequently), but it is hard to tell. I may try to keep track of when it does it. Last time it was around Jan 4th. Thank you.

    2nd Gear Starts - Random

Wow! that's an awesome document - THANK YOU! I think it's different. Seems that if the clutch were in backwards, it would always act improperly. As it is, it rarely does it, working perfectly the rest of the time. Even when it does do it, I don't remember it ever doing it more than once in a...

    2nd Gear Starts - Random

My 2005 Yukon has ~145,000 miles. Very little towing; I bought it with 103,000 and it had never had a trailer hitch installed. Transmission fluid was clearly changed before I bought it, and it is still a bright pink color. I installed a Curt hitch and have done some light towing with it, but...

    Better reverse lighting ...

I would go with the Auxito LED 3157 replacement recommended above. I've had 7W LEDs (I don't remember the brand, bought 2+ years ago) and they work pretty well. LEDs will put out 8x-10x the light per watt compared to the OE bulbs, so they can really increase rear lighting. I also installed LED...

Rusty Fuel Lines: Replacing lines not enough

Yes, we could have said: GMT800 is the best GM truck line Instead, we say: GMT800 is the best* GM truck line * except for brake & fuel lines

Rusty Fuel Lines: Replacing lines not enough

Running just fine; getting ready to start a 3500 mile trip on it with my wife and our dog. I believe 2019b was the first yeat for 6-lug Rams. I like the wheels because they have a simple design that looks rugged without looking massive.

Came across a short (5 min) video that seems appropriate to the topic, Mike Rowe speaking on the subject:

Awesome! My rear blend works intermittently, and sometimes not at all. This will help me get into it when the weather warms (I'm always afraid of removing plastic panels when it's cold). I have electrical stuff, including variable voltage supplies and resistors, so I should be able to follow...

I'm not sure I miss my 1972 Ford Maverick with the 200 CI I6. Let's see... plugs and points every 10,000 miles, rebuild that one-barrel carb every two years (or less)...haha - the good old days? I think that's why this forum exists. We have vehicles that have the reliability of higher quality...

If I respond as I fully want to, I'll cross over into being political, so I'll restrain myself. Interesting article! Seems like the "kids" learned nothing from the "parents" - failure on the parents' part.

Not just technical schools, high schools also. My high school (Lane Tech in Chicago) had MANY shop classes. Many could be taken all four years, including double-period Auto Shop, Machine Shop, etc., in 3rd & 4th years. A co-op plan was available, sort of like an apprenticeship. One of my friends...

    Passing smog

My 1998 GMT400 threw the "catalytic converter below threshold" code intermittently for a long time; it would light up, then some time later it would go out, then back, and so on. I checked it with a scanner, and it would store the code even after the light went out. I never replaced the...
