    Reupholstering headliner

Nicely done; it looks good. I'm not familiar with "faux alcantara"... what is it? Sort of short fur? It looks like it was stretchy enough to contour properly. What adhesive did you use?

New Badges for Military Service Members, LEO, FireFighters and EMT

Sad but true. This does not reduce what you are doing with these! I'm none of them (although my sons would fit into multiple badges), but have high respect for them and appreciate your effort in recognizing them.

    Gear ratio

The 4.3L V6 was also cheaper: 2 fewer pistons, con-rods, less iron, less steel, etc. and a little lighter. CAFE drove manufacturers to do stupid/crazy stuff to reduce weight and other items. One thing I never understood was how many police Caprices, used by. Iti departments were made with the...

    Gear ratio

Marky, can you explain what a "looser converter" is? When I read the first place you used that term, I though you meant a higher stall-speed converter; then you said that he needs a converter with a higher stall-speed that is not loose - I'm confused!! I'm considering a BTR Truck Norris for my...

    New guy from Germany

Hello from Indiana Niclas. I'm jealous of how clean your truck is - very nice! Just curious why you need a heater for cold starts? Where I live the temperatures get to -21C every year, sometimes as low as -27C (and on rare occasion -31C). I have not had trouble starting. At the low temperatures...

    Autotreffen in Deutschland

Mit Google Translate; Entschuldigung, ich kann kein Deutsch. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, dass es in Deutschland Menschen gab, die amerikanische Autos mochten. Es scheint, dass die Mehrheit sie nicht besonders mag. Using Google Translate. I apologize I don't know German. I had no idea that there...

    Engine hours meter reset question

No PTO, but I've been known to start it and let it run for 20+ minutes at high idle in the winter, when I don't want to take it out to "exercise" it because of salt or ice. I try to run it at least every 6 weeks or less.

    Engine hours meter reset question

Agree completely. Reason for my statement is that we don't have a reasonable miles/hours recommendation for PM. Our old, I mean vintage, motorhome has a 1990 Caterpillar 3208T. PM recommendations are on engine hours, and the engine book has a table to convert to miles. I added an hour meter and...

    GMT400 overhead console question

I had a 1998... it is very useful to put in items that you want to automatically ejected each time you open the compartment. I don't think I ever used it, maybe for a small notepad.

    Greats from East Germany

Very nice! I really like the "German redneck" sign.

    Places to buy new hardware

Most fasteners are pretty standard, but if you buy from a hardware store, or from an on-line place, make sure you match the grade. In case you're not familiar with grades, metric fasteners have a stamping on the head (i.e.: 8.8, 10.9, etc). These indicate the strength of the fastener. It's...

    Torsion Bar Ride Quality

You may already know this... A longer bar is a softer bar A larger (diameter) bar is a stiffer bar. There is math that can give you compararive stiffness between bars as you vary the diameter and the length. I say "comparative" because the final effect on ride dependsnon many factors.

    Dash Hole?

Thanks for the link. I put an aftermarket radio in my Yukon, and have wondered what to do about the useless panel in the backside of the console...may he ordering from this place.

    Torsion Bar Ride Quality

As other have said...if you want a decent ride, but reduce leaning in turns (sway) for better handling, keep the torsion bars small and add stiffer (anti-)sway bars, and good shocks . When you go over a bump on only one side, you'll feel it because sway bar will affect both sides (right & left)...

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

Untrimmed zip-ties are also unlikely to cut your hands...although I still trim most.

Hard To Find or Discontinued Parts?

I believe some have had issues getting the lines to seal to other components. FYI...NiCop also will not corrode, but is softer than Stainless and easier to seal. I have not seen pre-bent lines from NiCop though, so that may be an issue.

    2025 colorado/canyon wheels on our gmt800s

More detail on 2019 & newer Ram wheels: They have slightly less offset than the GM wheels, maybe 10 mm. Not enough to put the tires outside the body, but in my case (using 275/65R18 tires) they are flush with the outside of the body, a look which I really like. Here's another photos I posted on...

    Good brake and rotor kits

I think I'll wimp out and just use the GMT900 brakes. Current brakes are not bad, upgrading to the GMT900 will be an improvement, which should be sufficient. It looks like the Ram wheels have less offset than the GM wheels, which is why the tires are basically slush with the body, which I really...

    Good brake and rotor kits

I have 2019 Ram 1500 18" wheels on my Yukon... anyone know whether the 2019+ calipers will clear these wheels? (why? they were priced well with Falkens in good shape, and I like how they look on the truck, and they are different than other GMT800s out there). My pads are still "OK", but I will...
