Hi everyone,
My 05 silverado 2500hd cruise just stopped working. I use it all the time but yesterday wasn't working. I have led bulbs in the reverse ans stop/parking lights that I installed a couple years ago with the led flasher module and the cruise has always worked so I don't think it's that. Fuse is good. Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks

Problem may be in the stoplight/brake switch. Check to see if the brake lights work correctly, including the 3rd brake light.

I can't help but remind members here that it seems like when there is lighting circuit problems, of any kind, the led's are the culprit over 50% of the time. Check all grounds. There is also a connector plate, for the taillight assemblies, on passenger side rear that is exposed to all elements and salt on the roads states eat them up.

The CEL may not be on but you will want to check for misfires count. The brake switch, a couple weeks ago, is likely related. What brand switch was installed? They can be a tricky install, too. I would double check the install and the switch quality.

Trailer wiring fuses should be pulled to rule out some crossed circuits. When hooked to my trailer with bunked wiring, cruise will not engage with lights on, if you’re just driving the hot wire for charging a battery could be touching any of the other in the bundle and contributing to why it won’t work.

Also use a scan tool to see if the switch is working and the computer reports the reason for inhibit if it indeed is

I've had the led bulbs in the taillights for a couple years now with no issues. Only thing I did recently is the brake switch
Check out the tail lamp ones specifically and look at them outside of the housing when on and then on the brake.

The bulbs can fail partially and look okay outside but be a mess circuit wise with barely any chips working etc

Update. Had the truck scanned as well as the brake switch tested. Conclusion is the switch is bad. Gm part is discontinued. I still have the rock auto warranty so I'm trying another standard motor brand. Tech said my torque converter lock up is also affected by that switch. New switch is on order. Ill update next week
