I’m having a problem, sometimes when I hit my 4 high button it’ll go into auto 4wd and won’t go back into 2 high or 4 high. I have to stop the engine and restart it and it’ll go back into 2 high. I’ve gone through with the scanner and watched the actuator and encoder motor and they work when they get the signal. I’ve replace the switch in the dash with a gm genuine, cleaned the ground on the body mount underneath the drivers door. Not really sure what to do. I’ve checked for wiring/chafing. Didn’t find anything. Please send ideas

Since you can shut it off and everything works well again, I would say it's electrical. Inside the actuator, there's a little reluctor wheel that can go bad. I had to replace that on one of my trucks and was fairly easy and inexpensive. Look here: https://www.performancetrucks.net/f...ronics-wiring-161/service-4wd-message-560255/

Post #8-10 has the part number and I even mentioned some testing of that with a DVOM.
