Welcome to the forum from Oregon. Ground problems are notorious on lots of GM trucks. Look thru Charm.li and check where the grounds are on your truck and literally open up every one of them and clean/inspect. If need to redrill and tap and reattach, do so. The fuel gauge may be ground related but could also be sensor related. Found this at Charm.li: https://charm.li/Chevrolet/2009/Silverado%203500%204WD%20V8-6.0L/Repair%20and%20Diagnosis/Powertrain%20Management/Fuel%20Delivery%20and%20Air%20Induction/Fuel/Technical%20Service%20Bulletins/Fuel%20System%20-%20GM%20Fuel%20System%20Treatment%20PLUS%28R%29%20Info./ Basically TSB#05-00-89-078C talks about the fuel pump sender unit gets sulfur buildup that causes readings problems and using an additive like Techron for a few tanks may clean the sensor up and get the fuel gauge to work again. Is way easier than replacing the pump sensor assembly. I am dealing with this on a customer's 09 Silverado K2500HD, right now.
