I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with 382,000 miles on it, original motor, original transmission and I love the damn thing. I bought it from my dad about a year back and since then, my dome lights have never worked. At the time I didn't care and didn't try to diagnose it. But about 4 months ago something made me want to fix it. The first thing I did was look in the fusebox under the hood and noticed there was no 15 amp fuse in the CTSY LP slot so I added one... and it fixed nothing. However, later that night I was driving and all the buttons were pressed in their on position and all of the sudden everything came on and they worked just fine, until I turned the truck off and woke up the next morning, at which point thy did not work. Since then, I've had the same problem over and over again. I have replaced the dome light wire harness and the headlight switch and nothing has changed. The courtesy lights - which include, but are not limited to: the dome light, the door lights, map lights, glove box light, under-the-hood lamp, ashtray light and the cargo lamp - only work about 40% of the time. Oddly enough, the lights seem more inclined to come the longer the motor has been running a while or when the weather is warm. As I said, I replaced the switch where you control your headlights and interior lights and the wire harness that connects to the dome light but nothing has changed. The instrument panel lights, headlights, parking lights, brake lights and reverse lights still work just fine. I know this is a lot to read but I'm trying to be as specific as possible, because I have no idea what is doing this. This is my first post and I joined this forum just to get some info. I will take any suggestions under advisement. Thanks, Nolan
