The coated latch fingers are wearing, and ive slammed it into the striker a few times full force. I had 2 springs poking out of the latch hole that actually requireed to be yanked out so i could move it. im guessing they helped ensure it opens all the time.  Not sure why or how its failing... but how hard is it to replace?</blockquote>
