It would take knowing whose maps they used and what format they're in. If you're handy with stuff like that, pop the disc into a PC and see what you can see. There was a small hacking effort on the discs for the Mopar stuff, but I think all they did was eliminate the "in motion" feature that prevented you from using certain functions while the vehicle is moving. As far as I know they didn't continue with any map updates on those past what the vendor offered. The units in those cars were made by Alpine (pretty sure) and the map data provided by Navteq, which is now called "Here" - after looking at their website, it appears they provided it for GM, too. Here's what they say when I try looking up older models: "The map update for this navigation system is discontinued and is no longer available for purchase through this site or at dealerships. Please note: Map updates are typically offered for approximately 5 years after the last year the system was sold on new vehicles." With that in mind, I wonder if the maps from a newer offering of theirs can be adapted. You'd think no, because that would be too easy, but from what you said earlier it seems like somebody has done it. It can't be a one-off; that's the kind of success people tend to want to spread around. I just kept trying year models of Silverado and it cuts off at 2018. 2019 is available. The infotainment system in those is radically different from anything a GMT800 ever saw, so I'd be really surprised if any data they would provide is compatible. It's a $150 gamble, or maybe you could get an outdated disc used, cheap off ebay, for experimentation purposes. Anything you can make work is bound to be newer data than what you have. Looks like after the GMT900's they switched to the updates coming on an SD card. Richard
