I have to admit, I am very partial to the GMT800 models. I own a 2005 Tahoe Z71 and a 2004 Silverado K2500HD with the 6.0 and 4L80E. Both the same silver birch metallic color. Before the 05 Tahoe I also owned an 02 Tahoe with barn doors. Wish I could find a Z71 with barn doors and same color as now. My work on my current Tahoe is well documented at the Tahoe/Yukon Forum in my Build Thread. One of the things that really sets these trucks off is how comfortable the seats are. The best ever, IMO.

Yes! I agree, that is why we put them in the 55 and I have a set for the 97 Suburban. My 02 K2500 was an awesome truck, like it says in my signature, wish I had a do-over.

Yea, the guy I bought the 2004 K2500HD from, sold it because he said it was more truck than he needed. He stuck with a GMT800 C1500 and I saw him a couple days ago and he says he misses the K2500 already. Wishes he never sold it to me.

I had a cat's eye Duramax before but I want to see how this 6.0 treats me. So far, no complaints.

First Chevy was my 87. I think this pic would have been after we cut the fenders to fit the 33s, before I got a 4 inch lift kit.

Then replaced the 87 with a new 02 2WD. Sold it years later.

Sometime later, I started missing the 02 and picked up a used 04 Z71.

The Z71 turned out to be a salvage that the dealer sold as a clean title (they ended up buying it back).

Then got a used 03 2WD

Totaled the 03 in 2016.

Then I got the maroon 04 (replacement for the totaled 03) which I’ve had since 2016.

My wife wants a truck just like that, but ideally a crew cab. Her dad had one growing up that she drove and loved! His is a extended cab long bed with just a bit too much rust for me to put the effort in to revive (AK plow truck). But, we are keeping our eyes out for a pre-cateye crew cab short box 2500 4x4 with a 6.0. I'd personally be into an 8.1 truck also, but those are getting increasingly hard to find. Oh, and ideally without tow mirrors. Not sure why, but I really dislike tow mirrors on these.

If you have the right gear, the 6.0 should tow fine, to a point. Nothing says torque like a big block. If the 8.1 crank sensor ever goes, well, have fun.
