The little air filter box life monitor also got deleted. I can't remember when that happened. Maybe that was only on the 99-02? Only my 99 has that. You can simply change the lid if you want to add it. I frankly never figured out how use or read that little gadget.

Passenger side and liftgate key slots; our 2001 Suburban had both, our 2005 Yukon only driver's door key slot. Not sure if only Suburbans had these, but our 2001 Suburban LE had both a power door lock button on right rear pillar, and a 12V outlet; 2005 Yukon neither.
Our 2005 Yukon steering column does not lock; is it defective or did they also delete the locking function used on early years?

My 02 2500HD has the air box filter gauge. I'm like you - it never made any sense to me either!

GOod memory, only 2003/4+ with no RKE got passenger key slot.
Mine has one for example.

The light under the hood also got deleted, not sure what year?

I didn't know the glovebox light got deleted, SMH.
I changed the text in my first post to red since i did include that but it was hard to see
My 2004 does not have an exterior fuel filter. I looked.
The fuel filter situation was more to do with returnless fuel BUT it is still a good idea regardless
Ill try to find some 100% dates on them if i cant find them ill just put (2004?) like a couple other things

2003-2004 running change, the steering wheel lock in the column was discontinued
If the trucks came with passkey III, this would be a non issue.

but passlock and no security trucks they should have kept it, because its not much but one more anti theft deterrent would have been smart

I really wonder if 2004 was a changeover year, and some got them, while others did-not. Maybe it is an E85 thing too? My 2004 does not have one either, but some retailers list that one is possible. It has always piqued my interest.

The E85 was only on the L59 RPO code engine. E85 is the same thing as flex fuel, correct? I want to say that engine got introduced prior to 2004, but I can't remember exactly when? Maybe 2002?

The 5.3 (L59) engine I swapped into my Silverado came from a 04 Yukon XL and that one had return style fuel system. Which is strange now that I'm reading this and connecting the dots... Ummm
