Mine has been dying for a number of years, but it is getting worse now. A few years back my AC wasn't working. A friend of mine and I traced it back to the actual AC button/switch on the board in the HVAC control. Non-repairable, and at that point I should have swung for a new control unit. Instead, we took a closer look at the wiring diagram and bypassed the button on the dash. The relay for the AC/ AC compressor works on a negative/ground trigger to engage the compressor. So, we installed a switch under the dash and triggered the relay manually to engage the compressor clutch. It has worked great like this for years, but I know it has been harder on the AC clutch running it this way, and it is finally taking its' toll. The clutch will engage and work for a few minutes driving around town, potentially longer driving constant 2000RPM on the freeway, but it eventually stops working again. Just this week I was getting hot air out of the driver side vents while getting cold air out of the passenger vents with both sliders all the way down. This tells me something else is going out in the HVAC control module now, and if I replace the compressor clutch, I should make it function correctly this time.Anyway, it looks like only Dorman is remanufacturing these things from what I can find online. Is there possibly another source? I haven't had the best of luck with Dorman electronics over the years.
