I Did a garage exhaust swap .. to Save dollars at home .. At this point the only problem seem to be securing the muffler or mid pipes from flexing excessively . I am Really looking for insight on the best way to secure this diy exhaust muffler/tail and mid pipe with the best (particular)aftermarket hangers and or isolators and ideas for location . This is for keeping the whole length of the system from side to side movement This was done on a 1993 c1500 but it’s fairly close enough in terms of the way a tail pipe and mid pipe and muffler route on a 99-06 the muffler back to the tail routed fine ! I added a new walker cat and new 3” mid pipe and stock 99-06 Clean OE muffler with factory tail. It is all fully welded done at home .. I welded One 90• hanger off the frame rail in line with the Oe (tail pipe hanger rod )with a very cheap rubber isolator that seems to sag and stretch but it suppers the up and down weight .. I do have some nice evil energy’s isolator rubbers on the way to replace the one in the video .. I doubt I’ll find anything like Oe , but the main dilemma is the entire exhaust swings side to side to much. I feel like it needs some type of hanger or hangers mid way or at the muffler inlet it needs a place to keep the side to side movement tighter .. Any ideas what I can do based of the video I made to show. The Oe 93 hangers are a Bolt on to frame rail design mounted off the frame . Very unusual design for the era.. I did keep them in my stash but I don’t have the ability to find the new particular Oe isolators that they particularly use ..because the hangers were welded to the original piping and muffler So I’m left with some Type of diy hanger method but unsure where or what type works best to keep a side to side movement . What would a shop do in this case? “ Side note “ The tail pipe (Hump) clears the axle travel ..but I feel like I could have routed it further rearward .. But that’s not the issue the issue is side to side movement rattles and comes close to the drive shaft . It’s clearly not factory or acceptable. By the way it’s all super quiet! Probably better than it was in 93’ but that’s because I ran a Oe take off muffler and new cat .
