Now to work on the steering wheel. The leather on the donor steering wheel was in bad shape, so I am swapping all of the parts onto my steering wheel. 1st, remove all of the screws to remove everything. Remove the rear cover. My original cover # is 16759151 Then install the donor cover. Part # 16821317 Plus install the switches & harness. Because my steering didn't originally have the switches, the holes weren't pretapped. I little extra oomph & the screws will thread the metal of the steering wheel. I cleaned the contacts before reinstalling. Left is clean, right is dirty. Reinstall the steering wheel and airbag. Tilt the steering wheel up. Reconnect the battery. From outside the vehicle, reach under the column & turn the key forward. Then start the vehicle. If you didn't screw up the wiring, the airbag didn't deploy. Therefore you didn't eat the airbag by sitting in front of it when testing.
