After searching for a suitable truck for months I finally bought a one owner, well maintained, 95K miles, accident free and original paint, towing pkge, Z71, 5.3, Ext, short box,{ rebuilt trans - frt bearings, brake lines, brakes. - all within the last 30K} Needs rockers, small rust hole lower rear door and corner of tailgate. Under the fender flares only the passenger side had small bubbles but no holes. The pass side rocker is much better than the driver's. Cab corners are strong. I paid 1/8th of the new retail - a good deal when comparing to others available locally.
-plan to do: a box off resto of the frame and under box, slip on rockers for now,
. -treat the fender lip rust, paint and reinstall flares, fix a few
small things
Basically restore and maintain the truck at new appearance for quite a while longer.

The big question is mechanical maintenance - besides changing all the fluids what else can I do to give it max operating life?
I'm a DIY'r having gotten lots of years out of my cars.
