I have an 05 silverado with a 5.3 that died while driving. Hasn’t started since and won’t even turn over. The truck has full power throughout, but when I turn the key over to start my truck nothing happens. My obd2 scanner says there’s no connection. It’s an electrical issue id assume. What are the issues that may cause this? I’ve already tried troubleshooting a plethora of things but I’ve gotten nothing so far. The only other odd thing happening is cluster shows no fuel but the tanks full. Thanks.

Wonder what happened here. Sounds like a catastrophic electrical disconnect. Was any recent work done? Your plethora of things you have tried....what are they?

Check the grounds. The one on the block under/behind the power steering pump, some times shared with the battery’s negative lead, this is little know and rots out. The one on the back of the harness on the passenger side to the head, their is a common ground splice in the harness (primary trunk between engine and fuse block that can “come undone” and lastly the body to frame under the drivers door to the body mount on the frame.

def start with grounds. there's the one on the block as mentioned above. also another behind the front driver side of the bumper near the front body mount. I believe that front one is where the ecm is grounded. The you key on the ignition to run without cranking, do you get the CEL (check engine light) coming on in the cluster? IF not fuel gauge, and no CEL then thats usually indicative of ECM not communicating or not powering up. Check those grounds and I believe the fuse is label ECM-B under the hood -- check that.

Here’s the spot I was thinking about. Looking up from under the front bumper below the driver side headlight. IMG_0597.jpeg
