The theories sound interesting, there could be #3 that a pawl or something is broken in the T case so it thinks it is in gear but actually not. IMO these trucks are so old that the MIL sets by a circuit being open or closed when it shouldn't be. When it was in the air, did you see the front driveshaft turn?</p></blockquote><p></p>
