For your install I would recommend using nothing besides the PAC Audio RP5-GM11 wiring harness. It will retain your door chimes, provide ACC output, is compatible with both Bose and Standard Audio, gives you all the necessary outputs for nav units (park brake, VSS, reverse, etc) and will retain SWC if you have them.
I install for a living. That being said I have seen lot's of great radios and lot's of bad. I personally am running an Alpine INE-S920HD at the current time. It's been a great unit for the several years I've had it now. I like pretty much every thing about it, though the hands free BT mic could use improving. the sound processing features are outstanding and the time correction and other setting really help many of the acoustic problems in a RC pickup. In these trucks with some radios you need to trim the plastic at the bottom/back edge of the sub-dash this is easily done and the sub dash is even easily removable if your so inclined. I used a PAC Audio TR-7 to bypass the park brake and foot brake that my particular unit requires. We are in the middle seeing some brand new units hitting the streets so until I get to play with them I cant make any recommendation on the new stuff, but in my experience you cant go wrong with the current INE-W960 or INE-W967HD I would also suggest the Pioneer AVIC -8200NEX, 7200NEX or 6200NEX, though the current Pioneers do have some fit issues with some dash kits, due to the redesigned face they should fit any GMT-800 fine. So here is mine.
