No major progress but I have been gathering parts. I decided to use an existing 80e I have from a 97, adding a TransGo HD2. I sourced a local 27 spline NP246 from a Tahoe and ordered 32 spline input shaft, 6 pinion planetary, overhaul kit, and case saver for it.

I've had my fun with GMT400s, but the only one I have low enough to pull my trailer was the 2000 Escalade, a short wheelbase 1/2 ton. Not ideal for towing by any means. Unfortunately in the current market, a late 90s K2500 Suburban with a 7.4 or 6.5 that wasn't beat absolutely to death was not...
