I've had my fun with GMT400s, but the only one I have low enough to pull my trailer was the 2000 Escalade, a short wheelbase 1/2 ton. Not ideal for towing by any means. Unfortunately in the current market, a late 90s K2500 Suburban with a 7.4 or 6.5 that wasn't beat absolutely to death was not in the budget, and 6.0 GMT800 Suburbans were similarly priced.

So instead of buying what I wanted, I decided to build it while I had unimpeded access to a shop with a lift.
I found a 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum with a bad trans, but was not happy with a 4L65e/10 bolt and rear coils for towing so next I dragged home a 2001 Suburban k2500 parts truck and got to work.
At this point I'm trying to source a 4L80e, NP246, and 03-06 3 channel ABS pump locally. I either need to find a 2003-06 2500 SUV chassis harness, or modify the Escalade's harness for dual tanks and the 3 channel ABS pump.

@GMC Burbalade, did this build continue?
No major progress but I have been gathering parts. I decided to use an existing 80e I have from a 97, adding a TransGo HD2. I sourced a local 27 spline NP246 from a Tahoe and ordered 32 spline input shaft, 6 pinion planetary, overhaul kit, and case saver for it.

This build is awesome! I hope you come back and finish this thread.

Hello i have a question on the abs pump difference you mentioned on your suburban chassis swap? I am doing something similar with my 2003 escalade esv but also adding a 2004 lb7 duramax/allison with a 2006 suburban 2500 chassis too.I am pretty sure the diesel rear axle doesn't have abs sensors at each rear wheel. I am guessing I going to lose the stablitrack feature.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. Glad to have you here.

I was wondering what a 3 channel ABS pump was until I put 2 and 2 together and then I saw what you said about diesel rear axle not having abs sensors at each rear wheel and so would have the one sensor at the diff. I am assuming that accounts for the 3 channel ABS pump instead of a 4 channel ABS pump. Can you swap a 2 sensor axle in and keep the stabilitrack feature?
