Suburban rear cargo area question

Random question - is there a specific use for the storage area (with lift up door) on the driver side in the rear cargo area?

I believe that is where some of the vehicle jack equipment is stored and even a space for road flares. BUT, I could be wrong.

Also, gloves, spare tools....etc.

Jack is stored on the wheel well - under the cubby just forward of this storage area. Might be for gloves and flares. It’s a strange shape/set up - makes me think it might be for something specific.

For me (before the 2005 Yukon I had an '01 Suburban), it was a perfect place to store my towing drawbar.

It’s just a miscellaneous stowage. I keep a paper towel roll in there

How about a half-used up roll.of paper towels AND the towing drawbar!

Yes, above is correct, storage for jack, gloves and tools. I changed to a bottle jack, some small pieces of lumber (blocks) to lift higher. You can also fit the removable hitch, some rain gear and better gloves.
