Now for the fun part, swapping clockspring pigtails on the harness under the dash. The pins inside the housing are not even close to the same shape, so you can't swap just the housings. Gotta cut & swap pigtails. I offset cut the wires so it's not too fat in that area when put back together...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

Now reverse the order to put it back together with the donor parts but with a potential mod or change depending upon which donor parts you got? In my case, I have to change both plug ends on the donor clockspring. Now if I had also gotten the Jimmy airbag, then I wouldn't have needed to change...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

I'm finally swapping out the clockspring & steering wheel cover to add the factory steering wheel radio controls from a 1999 GMC Jimmy. Relative easy straight forward job. Disconnect battery & wait 15min. Remove steering wheel airbag. Separate and remove steering column clamshell cover...

Battery reconnected. The 2002 washer fluid pump works. I don't see any leaks anywhere. Several days later, the ground is still dry under the tank. So I am confident that it was just a bad pump.

Ok, completed project for now. The original Washer Fluid reservoir is reinstalled with the Pump Motor from the 2002. Everything seems to be dry. Once I put the column back together and rehook-up the battery, so I can test it to verify any leaks.

Here is the part number interchange list for the cowl panel. That's alot of part # revisions in a short time period. I wonder if there truly is a part difference that I didn't visually notice or just a corporate money wasting shuffle?

    3pc engine cover set

While stuck in bed sick last week, I finally got a chance to check that site out. Maybe it's me, but I couldn't find any reference about the engine covers. I tried a couple different years to no avail.

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

I made a decision last night, I'm confident that my 2000 pump is what was leaking. So I'm going to swap the 2002 pump onto my 2000 tank & hope for the best. That way I don't need to swap the LF wheelwell liner to match the 02 tank, nor put an additional hole in my 00 liner to be able to mount...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

I don't have any water leaks. But I'll look into those side rubbers. But for now, if it was the broken mount on the cowl panel allowing it to bounce between the hood & firewall causing any noises, it definitely ain't now. My issues is I travel east/west. The highway is north/south. The highway...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

While I decide on what I want to do about the washer fluid tank, I'll start prepping for swapping out the cowl panel. Everything out of the way. 1st things first. Visual inspection for differences & damages. Especially considering that the part numbers are different. I don't notice any...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

Nope, I'm partially wrong. Now, knowing that the electrical system changed with the 2003my. I'll stick with the 99-02 electrical parts. Especially if I can't cross reference it. Which in this case, I couldn't on the tank. As you can see in the pic, the washer fluid tank changed also as is the...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

Step one, bag & label the spare parts & put away. Step two, start stripping so that I can swap washer fluid reservoirs. Before buying the used one, I filled it with water at the yard and walked around with it, it never leaked. On mine, while still fully installed, I couldn't determine where the...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

That brings us to the salvage yard haul on Saturday the 14th. Wiper cowl & washer fluid reservoir from a 2002 Silverado. The 2 end caps from an 03 Yukon. Plus the missing screw & clips. Extra (not needed) door panel courtesy lights. Oh and the receipt for this lot. $36.08 for everything. Not...

My new to me 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab

Soo, on that drive to Tampa the Sierra drove great. But there was a weird slapping sound while on the highway. I've never heard this noise before from the truck. But I couldn't tell you the last time it was on the hwy. But the last time it was on a hwy, it didn't have the cap. Was the noise...
