    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Yeah the guy I use here locally is really good. He’s been able to align anything I bring him perfectly. No that’s not my rack. That’s the alignment shop. I do have a buddy where I do a lot of my automotive work with both a 2 post and 4 post drive on lift in a 6k sqft shop. I’ve been...

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Today got the alignment done. Steering feels a lot better. A bit of slop in the steering box. I’ll deal with that eventually.

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

So probably 2 years ago, when I first looked at this problem I thought we determined the resistor and blower motor were ok. I’ll be sure to check them again. Thanks

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Got to drive the truck around today and something felt really off. Front tires scrubbing pretty hard and just overall seemed like something was binding up. Looking around I realized we must have flipped the center link 180 degrees last weekend while swapping out everything. Oops. Pulled it apart...

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Haha the tailpipe was the handy work of my 40 year old buddy this weekend. He asked what he could help with, I explained to him the tailpipe got tagged on a rock years ago and was tweaked out of alignment. Asked if he wanted to trim it back and help realign it. He said he has a better idea. This...

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Changed all fluids (except coolant as that was done 2 years ago). Surprisingly the fluids looked rather decent considering the mileage. Ready to be put back on its own weight and torque everything down.... Got it on the trailer and drug back home. now need to get it aligned and a tune up.

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Up on the lift, stripped the front suspension and steering. Then started in with the new parts. Reloaded calipers, control arms, hub bearing and tie rods, pitman and idler... Then the hellwig solid chromoly sway bar (end links not shown in this photo). Then got rear brake rotors...

    2000 Silverado z71 refurb

Well I have inherited my first truck back, a 2000 Silverado K1500 Z-71 Ext cab long bed. I bought this truck new in 2000 with 7 miles on it because I was a dumb 18yo with a decent job. Lost said job a year later and my dad saved my butt and refinanced it in his name. He and my mom became the...

    Auto Trak Fluid

I will say I don’t believe this unit was put into 4WD or auto very often during that 200k miles but regardless it definitely was a long time.

    Auto Trak Fluid

Yeah pretty sure. Last time I changed it it was around 60k miles. Dad drove the truck last 20 years and I’m 99% sure he never changed that fluid. He was a “don’t change it til it’s broke” kinda guy. Currently it’s got 292k miles. So pretty confident it had over 200k miles.

    Auto Trak Fluid

Fyi just drained the auto trak tcase in the 2000 z71. It probabaly had at least 200k miles. And it was super clean and nice and blue. I was surprised. Needless to say i put the auto trak II blue juice in it.

    No Crank, No start. Help!

Here’s the spot I was thinking about. Looking up from under the front bumper below the driver side headlight.

    whats your other rides?

Picked up a 2013 GMT900 Yukon XL for a steal with a dead lifter. Stupid AFM crap. Fixed it and been driving it around for a bit now.

    Auto Trak Fluid

I know this has been discussed a lot on other forums but lately I’ve seen amsoil listing their dexron II/III compatible atf (multi vehicle atf) as a valid fluid for auto trak transfer cases that call for auto-trak II fluid specifically. Any insight as to weather the auto trak fluid is...

    Vibration source chasing

You seem to have attacked a lot of the typical and some not so typical reasons that would cause this. Chasing down chassis vibrations can be tricky. Do you have access to a lift to get the tires up off the ground and run it up to ~40 mph? Maybe have the hood popped to keep an eye on the motor...

    No Crank, No start. Help!

def start with grounds. there's the one on the block as mentioned above. also another behind the front driver side of the bumper near the front body mount. I believe that front one is where the ecm is grounded. The you key on the ignition to run without cranking, do you get the CEL (check...
