Truck wants to start on the first ignition turn 5.3

when i swapped the motor in my 07, not having all the grounds connected caused very odd cranks... truck wouldn't run without the headlights on, then it wouldn't shut off without turning off the lights... ignition key did not always operate correctly... dash and displays did not operate...

Yeah thats the way all these trucks were sold, as cab and chassis, 2wd only. then they went to upfitters for the rest. Mine was a Verizon bucket truck and has a Verizon RPO when decode the VIN. Even the rare "factory" quad cab trucks all decode to 2dr trucks. They were also sent out after being...

these trucks are just GMT400's on steroids.. they can really haul some weight.. they are rated for 15,000lbs but seem to be able to handle a lot more from the stories i've seen. and unless you get some weight in the back, they quickly let your back know they're not your average home depot...

nothing other than a pinhole leak in the cover.. i just put some jb weld on it.. you could have a cover or pinion seal leak like any other differential

i've got an 01 3500HD as well... workshop manuals are only on EBAY for the most part... and expensive.. but there really isnt much different to working on these vs a "regular" 3500. the only real difference is the I-beam axle with kingpin steering, the dana 80 rear and 120lb 19.5 wheels/tires

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

yep... little emory cloth and quick shoe lace polish on the journals, add some new bearings, it would for sure.. top end is fine, cross hatch still in the cylinders..

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

Quick autopsy on the old 4.3... Some dark looking rods.. leading to some crusty crank rod surfaces .... throw some new bearings in, she'll be fine ;-) was interesting to see that GM used the "broken rod caps" on these motors

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

Engine is in and running good, no CEL on dash, runs nice and smooth. One minor slip up on the motor mounts, I didnt swap the adapter plates on the block which pushed the tail-shaft to the right... must have been a 4x4 truck that the "new" motor came out of. I also missed one ground at the...

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

this engine wont rotate, so i only have a 1/2" gap between the block and flexplate to get at the bolts..

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

For simplicity I went with a 4.3 out of an '05.. just want to get it done for now.. being from New England its been so nice to work on a rust free truck PITA to split a tranny from a locked up motor. Especially in my cramped space. I'm currently at a standstill as I didn't have a beefy enough...

    2007 1500 Classic with 4.3L v6,

yeah i watched a guy do a 5.3 swap... best is to get complete DBW harness/pedal he did a 5.3 and all the V6 exhaust, fuel lines and 4L60 bolted right up. he wasn't going for performance, just wanted to the cheapest LS swap he could do, which is where my head is at. For now i just need to get...
