Ha yessir running good.. she just got an oil change last week too. Trying the Costco 5W-30 full synthetic that is dexos certified.. super cheap, $4 a quart and it’s the same company that makes MAG1 and others

You can clean up the deposits that have built up in that engine, over the 150K miles. Try the Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w-30 full synthetic and see the dipstick start to clean up and know that is also going on inside that engine.

How many miles or how much time, in between oil and filter changes? If you do try the Valvoline R&P, before you do, cut open your old oil filter and see what is in there and then monitor the oil filters after you do the Valvoline R&P.

I run the Costco oil in my vehicles. Buy a few cases when it's on sale. Between that oil and buying Wix oil filters by the dozen from Rockauto.com, that's the least expensive way to do oil changes.

I haven't bought oil or filters from the local auto parts stores in like 6 years.

Chevy dealership actually price matched wal mart on an AC delco filter which shocked me. Got it for $6.72

Good to know. The full synthetic got pretty dirty and glad I changed it at 5k miles.
I’ve been doing 5k mile intervals with full synthetic.
Have been running the Valvoline R&P in the Honda Odyssey, like it!

had trouble believing it was the same old dipstick. Wish I'd switched winter of '24 when V R&P first debuted. No longer see a point in using any other motor oil.

And for the DuraMax (& DuraMedium & DuraMini, as well as other turbodiesels), there's "Valvoline Premium Blue Restore",
which is pretty tough to find under $75 a gallon, if I'm not mistaken.

Not trying to turn this in to a Valvoline R&P praise thread, but this is my cylinder head at 225k miles and 3 V R&P oil changes.



The downside is that it smells like gear oil.

Starting to think the minor exhaust leak on drivers side is the source of the gas smell… makes sense no EVAP codes or fuel related issues

Miner exhaust leak from where? Broken manifold bolt at front or rear? Clamp kits to the rescue.

Not sure? My 06 Suburban has a fuel smell when I get off, and tbat just in the driveway...not inside the garage. I "had" a small leak I was never able to find, even after smoking it with an expensive $650 smoke machine I would think it would find...

I would say if no large leaks, then either vent valve or charcoal canister. Those are the only real components that would cause that complaint.

Ok, so, exhaust leak on d/s but unsure if is front, middle or rear?
Can't see any wet fuel inder or in engine compartment? How about wet at top of tank?

That's an easy fix, or at least it was for me on my 06.

Mine was on the passenger side. I was ready with my welder, but to my surprise, when I removed the exhaust manifold, I was able to remove the broken threaded stud with vice grips.

Removing the bolts at the bottom exhaust flange was actually more of a hassle, but too bad either.

Summit Racing has some nice high strength bolts that are around $35 IIRC under their name brand. That's what I used.

On my Silverado when I did my V8 swap I used the Dorman bolts from the local parts store. That was in 2020, and they are holding up well.
