@AuroraGirl Drum brakes?!

GMT800 8 lug never had drum brakes. Only GMT800 that had drum brakes were post-2004 half tons pickups with 6 lugs.

OP has a 99 GMT800 2500 with disc brakes. I thought those had the 9.5" 14 bolt, but I do see some had the 10.5" 14 bolt. But those are interchangeable and not here nor there and either had discs. We shouldn't even be mentioning drum brakes on this thread. LOL My buddy (from the SS forum) says drum brakes are for losers...his words and he's a younger kid :rolleyes:

It is discs on all four corners, I'll check though I thought that the full floating rear axles were 10.5 at least for the 4x4's.

@AuroraGirl Thanks for the info.

@Marky Dissod When I change it out, I'll probably just have the whole unit rebuilt with a truetrac or something. I haven't heard about the spring deal, sounds interesting, if you find a writeup post it, that would be cool.

i thought 2002 was the change from drums to disc



Nvm i checked on AAM website, 1999 they switched. my bad. that makes it less complex!
