There are desert areas east of us and south, closer to Ca. it can get really hot in the summertime. As I grew up, I lived in and around KC, Mo. Hot and humid and can have some very cold and snowy/icy winters. My dad was an owner/operator truck driver and I went with him "alot". Every time we traveled to the PNW, I loved it and swore to myself that one day I would live here. I ran shops in KC, Mo. and put my resume out thru IATN-International Automotive Technician's Network. Interviewed in Co. but did not like it and held out. Then I got a hit on my resume from a shop in Eugene, Or. They flew me out and put me up at a hotel and we talked and they made me an offer. I went home and sold my house within 30 days and headed west. I moved here in 1995 and never looked back. Can drive to the mountains or coast or desert and temps/humidity suit me. The weather is great but you have to deal with rain. No thunderous downpours and hail like in the Midwest but can rain in some form or another for days on end. Lots of green out here. The thing that really helped sell the place was my first dealings with vehicles in the shops. NO RUST. It is Nirvana.
