I have to admit that All.Data would have been my preferred go to for information processes and labor times BUT the monthly fee was too much. I had an All Data local sales rep text me, out of the blue, and said he had heard about me. What? How? When? Where? From Whom?.....Anyway, he offered their All Data system for all kinds of bells and whistles for $229 a month. I don't do enough or as deep of work here to justify that. If I did sign up, I would have to charge a fee to all my customers. I reminded him of that and that I am former military and back and forth a couple times and got the monthly fee down to $169. I said I would think about it and get back to him. A kicker was that to get that fee of $169, I had to sign a contract for 2 years. Then had to renegotiate after that.

I was tired of the Charm info system only going to 2013. Now this Lemon system is here, thru 2025 and there is always you tube. I can work with this.

Recent time in a local shop, about 4 months, and I used All data and was a newer version than what I had used in shops years before. It took a bit to get used to but once I figured it all out, I was generating work orders and invoices too, it was great to use.

@ORVietVet Have you looked at an O'Reilly Pro account? I've found lots of good info there. Torque specs, install guides, TSBs, limited labor time lists, etc. It was actually the O'Reilly Pro account where I found the GM Special Coverage Adjustment for my wife's DD for a bad turbo design.

What is the cost to do that?

Nothing. Go into your local O'Reilly and ask to open a pro account. My store didn't even have me fill anything out, as I'm in there all the time. You also don't need a tax ID number, unless you want to use one.

Do you get parts discounts, like a shop would?

Yeah, at the bottom tier, but it has already saved me several hundred dollars. It's definitely worth it. You get online and phone access to the pro site and app. It's way more handy than I thought it would be.

You can't sign up online at the O'Reilly site? Gotta go to store?

I didn't even know about it until afterward. Looking at it, seems you may be able to. Definitely worth a try.

These sites are great I didn’t know about them, I will definitely be adding the to my collection of manuals :).

Slightly off topic but a bit similar. Does anyone have any good suggestions on repair order software, I mainly want it to keep better track of work I do on my vehicles but also to give the few people help out on their vehicles and record of the work and for me to a vehicle history for each.

Welcome to the forum, from Oregon, @Brant615.

None better for the software you are asking about, is AllData. Kind of pricey, unless you are a veteran. If you are just doing your own vehicles, the price is not too bad but if you are doing other vehicles, then you will need to get a SHOP account.

I have used Mitchell on Demand years ago and am unfamiliar what they offer now.

There is likely less well known others that are out there, though.

Yeah, AllData is too rich for my blood. I currently use a free invoice program, gets the job done just not very efficient for doing “repair orders”. Thank you for the advice though.

I have a basic Excel spreadsheet to keep track of repairs, dates, part numbers, mileage and warranties. I have a tab for like each 4 of my vehicles.

I don't have anything linked on mine, but there's a way where you can create a hyperlink and if you click in something, it will bring up a document, such as shop invoice or receipt.

I’ve used spreadsheets in the past it does get the job done. I went from spreadsheets to invoicing software I’ve found it a bit better for vehicle history’s.

Nice!

What software do you use, if you don't mind me asking?
Here's a screenshot of my webpage, I use it for service history and quick reference and a PDF of the invoice from the NCH software.

I’ve used this one for years for different things. The free version is plenty for what I need. I use it with a simple webpage for a quick history view. If I remember when I get home I’ll grab a screen shot of how I use it.

I use it though Wine on Linux and it works great even that way.

Finally downloaded it to my automotive laptop. Played around with it for a while. Seems pretty awesome. Getting ready to set up an LLC and start doing the mobile stuff in earnest.
