For those that might have had or has a GMT400 Tahoe, what is that rear compartment for?

I know what the front 2 are for - garage door opener and sun glasses. But that back one has me at a loss.

This console came out of a 1995 Tahoe without rear air conditioning. Plan is to retrofit it into the Sonoma.

Overhead console is split so I could paint the top half, in case you noticed something was missing.IMG_2082.jpeg

Isn't that the same as the GMT800 version? My 99 Silverado extended cab has that one. Garage door opener button front-most, sunglasses cubby and the last one in the rear is for CDs?

I had a 1998... it is very useful to put in items that you want to automatically ejected each time you open the compartment.
I don't think I ever used it, maybe for a small notepad.

I’m on GMT400 also. Hadn’t done a lot over there since I don’t have one. Joined really just to see other websites common to GMT800.

CD storage does make sense. There was an elastic strap but it was all stretched out. I tossed it along with the upholstery that was on the top section.

Yep, that's the same as mine.

Wait, so what kind of overhead console does your 04 extended cab have then? I assumed all extended cabs/crew cabs this generation had this style, no?

My 04 has the small one.

My 01 Sonoma is lacking storage space. I traded a set of Vintage Coca Cola glasses for the Tahoe console. I thought it was a fair trade. I did set it against the headliner and it is awfully close to the same contour.
