I'm jealous of how clean your truck is - very nice!
Just curious why you need a heater for cold starts? Where I live the temperatures get to -21C every year, sometimes as low as -27C (and on rare occasion -31C). I have not had trouble starting. At the low temperatures it cranks slowly at first, but always starts.
I know some parts of Germany can get really cold - in what area do you live, and how cold does it get there?

Mich würde interessieren, warum du eine Heizung für Kaltstarts brauchst? Hier, wo ich wohne, sinken die Temperaturen jedes Jahr auf -21 °C, manchmal sogar auf -27 °C (und in seltenen Fällen auf -31 °C). Ich hatte noch nie Startprobleme. Bei den niedrigen Temperaturen dreht der Anlasser anfangs etwas langsam, aber der Motor springt immer an.
Ich weiß, dass es in manchen Teilen Deutschlands richtig kalt werden kann – in welcher Gegend wohnst du und wie kalt wird es dort?

Das ist noch vom Vorbesitzer verbaut. Der wohnt im Thüringer Wald. Ich in Mecklenburg Vorpommern. Das geht nicht um Startschwierigkeiten sondern ehr darum daß es besser ist wenn der Motor vorgewärmt ist als wenn er bei -15 Grad startet. Schonender für den Motor.

I just realised i forgot to mention mileage... so far it`s got 81k miles, I bought it with 64k miles.
I also have to take a new picture, this one is from last year. in the meantime I swapped the headlights back to those with orange DRL`s and painted the fake "air scoops" inside the bumper silver like they came from the factory. I also put an antenna for the radio on it, previous owners scrapped it(probably because it creates a lot of wind noise).

I put the heater in it to eliminate cold starts in terms of engine wear. I live pretty much in the Center of Germany, it doesn`t really get that cold here. -21°C is about the lowest it has been here for the past years, usually temperatures stay at around 0 to -10°C during wintertime. But i should note that i live near woods and rivers, therefore the air is very humid and it feels a lot colder than it actually is.
I kind of figured heaters like this are uncommon in the US since I couldnt find anything about preheating but plug-in block heaters. Therefore installing it was quite a creative process.

Ich muss auch noch ein neues Foto machen, das hier ist vom letzten Jahr. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich die Scheinwerfer wieder gegen die mit orangefarbenem Tagfahrlicht getauscht und die Attrappen der Lufteinlässe im Stoßfänger silber lackiert, so wie sie ab Werk waren. Außerdem habe ich eine Radioantenne montiert; die Vorbesitzer hatten sie entfernt (wahrscheinlich, weil sie so laute Windgeräusche verursacht).

Ich habe die Heizung eingebaut, um Kaltstarts und damit den Motorverschleiß zu minimieren. Ich wohne ziemlich zentral in Deutschland, hier wird es nicht wirklich kalt. -21 °C war in den letzten Jahren das Tiefste, was hier gemessen wurde; normalerweise liegen die Temperaturen im Winter zwischen 0 und -10 °C. Ich wohne allerdings in der Nähe von Wäldern und Flüssen, daher ist die Luftfeuchtigkeit sehr hoch und es fühlt sich viel kälter an, als es tatsächlich ist.
Ich hatte schon vermutet, dass solche Heizungen in den USA eher unüblich sind, da ich außer elektrischen Motorvorwärmern nichts über Vorheizen finden konnte. Daher war der Einbau ein ziemlich kniffliger Prozess.

ICH habe sowas auch und das ist extrem gut im Winter.
