    Miklo's 2001 Silverado 2500HD Build Thread

Did you replace the torque converter or flexplate? The stock flexplates on the 6.0 mated with the 4L80e have a spacer from the factory. Edit: here's a 6.0 I have in my garage with the stock flexplate...darn, I can't upload photos!

    New guy from Germany

Noice! I didn't know there was a difference between the 2wd and 4x4 brakes on these trucks. I assumed they were the same? The Dutch? That's Holland or whatever they are called now, right? In the last World Cup I realized they are now called in Spanish "Paises Bajos" from "Holanda," which...

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

Removed and replaced the old water pump. Definitely was leaking thru that weep hole. I didn't see on my maintenance log where the belt and tensioner have been replaced (but I did replace the AC belt and tensioner previously), so I'll order new ones later. Tomorrow I'll stop by and buy some...

    New guy from Germany

Welcome from Texas. That's a nice looking truck you got there! To my knowledge, these trucks do NOT have the VIN stamped on the frame (althoughthey do have a code which I believe pertains to cab/bed type?), but I may be wrong. I can look at my GMT800s later and hopefully someone else can chime...

    GMT400 overhead console question

Yep, that's the same as mine. Wait, so what kind of overhead console does your 04 extended cab have then? I assumed all extended cabs/crew cabs this generation had this style, no?

    GMT400 overhead console question

Isn't that the same as the GMT800 version? My 99 Silverado extended cab has that one. Garage door opener button front-most, sunglasses cubby and the last one in the rear is for CDs?

    Work out of my garage/driveway

My vehicles are too old for that. Our newest vehicle is the 2020 Express van but that one is really old school and doesn't seem to have much complexities. I did watch Royalty Auto Service (I think that's the YT channel?) and they guy was talking about most newer vehicles have different things...

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

I reinstalled my original kickpanel and glovebox/trim. They must be the same on these earlier years because my original trim was for a console (that I deleted) and it still worked with this cupholder. Also, the SEM spray bomb is pretty darn close to the original color. I did have to drill out...

    Dead 4x4, and/or dead 4L60?

    1. Yeah, just steal one of those connectors and cut/splice into your wiring. 2. Yes, that's a breather. I think it routes and terminates near the transmission top of the bellhousing. There's another breather for the transmission as well. 3. The red is the breather, looks like. Isn't the blue...

    Stutaeng's 1999 Silverado

I finally bought some new tires: Cooper A/Ts something. I've noticed I have a bit of coolant dripping over the last few days near the front. I finally checked last night with an inspection mirror and I'm pretty sure it's my water pump. This is the water pump that originally came with my swapped...

Changed the Serpentine belt and pulleys.

Should be within 1/4" or 1/2" of the original. I remember once my mechanic replaced the AC compressor on my old 4.3 and he couldn't get the belt back on. We figured the remanufactured compressor had a different pulley, since that was the only thing that had been replaced. He went back and got a...

Parts and Labor Guide FOR FREE

I have a basic Excel spreadsheet to keep track of repairs, dates, part numbers, mileage and warranties. I have a tab for like each 4 of my vehicles. I don't have anything linked on mine, but there's a way where you can create a hyperlink and if you click in something, it will bring up a...
