I correct myself. It’s the Mexican suburban that has the cat eye front end.

Another cool thing is the gmt800 Tahoe in Mexico still had the L31 vortec 5.7, I want to say l31max on gmt400 had one for awhile.
I had heard about the Suburban but had not heard about the 5.7 engine.

Lax emissions standards had the engine choices behind several years than the U.S. market. For a few years, not sure which specific ones, the GMT400's that had gone Vortec in the U.S. (1996-up of course), were still TBI in Mexico.

You may already know that U.S. production of the GMT400 (GMT455) 3500HD ended with the 2002 model year, but they continued to make them for the Mexico market through at least 2005. Engine choices were the 6.5td or the 8.1 gas, the latter appearing first in the 2001 model.. which coincidentally, was also when production moved from Janesville WI so Silao MX.

But none of that is GMT800 info, so I digress..

How about a 2500HD cateye regular cab SHORT bed conversion truck? That thing is cool.

Imagine if you swapped a Duramax/Allison in that?

I kinda want a cateye now. LOL

When I came to Oregon in 1995 I had a 1996 2 door Tahoe Sport and it was a great truck for me till I had a NEED of a good tow vehicle. I bought a new 2003 ext cab Duramax and I loved that truck and it was a cat's eye truck. I wasn't sure how I liked the cat's eye look but really didn't care because that truck towed crazy great. 21 years later, on Dec.1, 2024 I bought the current cat's eye truck. I have grown to like the look because it is all about the total truck, IMO. Besides the reliability of the 6.0 engine and the whole truck in general, the one thing that all GMT800 trucks have is..........the most comfortable seats of all series GM trucks.
