Quick question, are the coil wire harness the same for passenger and drivers side? Truck is 2005 LM7 5.3. Been getting a random p0358 code and changed that coil twice now. I believe it goes away from me moving the wires around now. I swapped the coils as well with cylinders and still getting it.

They would be the same, but when I look up a generic 2005 K1500 5.3, guessing the truck because you did not say, there was a choice of 4 pin or 7 pin. But, from one side to the other, they would be the same. Hope you are using quality GM parts because these systems do not like generic.

Thank you, that’s what I thought but wanted to make sure. Yes only AC Delco but I wonder sometimes how good these parts are. I think the wire harness is the only part I didn’t replace yet, most of it was preventative but I went through the top end pretty good a few months back. The wires do seem a little brittle but I cant see any breaks from the top.

Problem solved BTW, it was the wire harness not the coil causing the code. I replaced the harness and the check engine light is gone.
New harness/connector or a used one? Did you inspect the old one for the source of the problem?

I replaced the whole harness with a new one. I did take the old one apart but didn’t see any broken wires but it was very stiff and brittle feeling. I’ll probably do the other side now as well.
Good call. If it is stiff and brittle then there is probably a broken wire inside insulation. Or the female part of connector is collapsed.
Did you do an entire harness on one side or the one cylinder harness/connector?

I did the whole harness on the one side. But I’m going to do the other side now. I also replaced the brittle wire loom in the engine bay.

I removed the entire engine/transmission wiring harness a few years ago on my 06 Suburban because the loom was all destroyed (was a PIA to remove tho). I did find some chaffing on a few wires which I added liquid electrical tape to before installing the new loom.
