I'm new in this forum and own a 2002 Silverado 1500 4x4. I just want to share ideas with other enthusiasts. I built a custom exhaust and I'm pretty satisfied on how it sound. My main goal was to eliminate the clapping truck sound and of course adding performance. I was thinking of doing a loop on the passenger side but instead I recently crafted together a custom x-pipe right after the headers. Being a 4x4 there the transmission cross-member and T-case in the20250102_211417.jpg way. So I've cut the cross-member to make room for the x-pipe and loop around the T-case. It's not perfectly symmetrical since the headers aren't ending at the same spot on each side and I just eyeball everything under the truck. But it made a huge difference! If this idea can enlighten someone who is chasing the same goals I'll be happy!

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

Plus, you might want to upload a video of the sound at you tube or Rumble and then post the link(s) here, for our viewing pleasure.

I am curious about where the pipes meet at the notch in the crossmember. Are the pipes just welded together or are they open at that point and the exhaust flow mixes there?
